My boy likes dragons and he likes telling me about them. He tells me where they

live, and what color they are, and even what color their tongues are. He calls

me over to the computer to see the picture of a dragon and he points at it and

he talks to me about it. He calls me over to his castle and he points at his

dragon figurine and he talks with me. My boy has interests that he likes to

share with me. My boy is getting better.

Awesome Deb! I am so happy to hear that :) My boy started more play skills

after chelating too, his expressive language took a lot longer, but it

eventually started coming (1 1/2 years after starting?)

If speech came after 1.5 years how can you attribute that to chelation? It could

be just developmental.

My boy is 15 years old. He has severe autism, he did not potty train until 10

yo in case that helps to understand the severity. Him wanting to talk with me

about dragons and monsters and animals is amazing, and I have not seen anything

similar to this since before he was 19 months old and he got autism. It's been

a long wait. Deb

My son asked his first question after a round of DMSA (round 12 or something?

2008?). From there, his language was pretty much at a stand still - learning

new words, but seemingly forgetting others he'd learned (Andy said possibly

seizure activity causing this). Then in the fall of 2009, I started him on

Vinpocetine and we saw a major increase in spontaneous phrases and attempts at

conversational language. His echolalia turned to intraverbals (answering

questions instead of repeating what we said).

Just my opinion, but I don't think the vinpocetine would have worked like it did

if we didn't chelate a lot first. His inflammation in his brain was way down

(with removal of foods and chelating) evidenced by less symptoms (screaming,

agitation, aggression, violent behavior, impulsivity, needing to constantly move

to be comfortable, etc). It was the right time to increase blood flow/oxygen to

his cells and he responded wonderfully! So much so that his teacher CRIED

because she was so excited about him saying something appropriate to her and his

speech therapist was amazed.

I kept pretty good records of his progress on this group Rochelle, feel free to

search my name and look if you like. I have told all the good and the bad, the

things that worked and what didn't and things I learned.

How wonderful for your son, you, and your family! I'm so happy for you all.

These are the kinds of things others just starting need to hear about. So they

see what can be accomplished with a relatively simple and affordable method of

autism treatment.
