Guest guest
You could consider chiropractic adjustments. We have had many cases of chronic ear infections improving with adjustments. You could also consider children's ear drops. I have personally used Gaia children's ear drops with my boys. Guest guest
I apologize for suggesting chiropractic. I misread that part of your post and thought you were considering it not that you were already trying it. The fluid that is causing the problem is behind the ear drum, so adding a liquid to the ear canal will not have cause an increase in the fluid that is causing the problem. You can also try massaging right behind the ear and down the neck to encourage fluid flow. Guest guest
Was the child fully vaccinated? I ask because this is how it all started with my son. I mean, my son IMMEDIATLEY lost many things the day of the shots, most notably all speech, pointing and eye contact. But then he started getting sick all the time with ear infections, and they started throwing antibiotics at him all the time. I totally understand that as I knew nothing about anything natural then either, and it is hard to watch your child suffer with a fever and pain. I, too, would like to know if this can treated naturally. However, my son suffered an infection with fever roughly every two weeks since regression, and the infections were often bad. He was on antibiotics about as much. He has had pneumonia eight times since regression. During his first bout of pneumonia at age two, he was given broad spectrum antibiotics IM and then followed with oral Omnicef, and on the fourth day of treatment, our son sat up and said every word he had known before regression! Then I found a study about this. Over use of antibiotics is a major problem just as over use of vaccines is an even bigger problem. With ALL drugs you have to weigh the risk versus the benefits. There is a sub-set of these kids who always seem better while on antibiotics, and my son is one of those, but of course, they cannot always be on antibiotics nor would I want him to be. But in those times he had these serious or painful infections, we found it necessary. I believe Dr. Block wrote a book about treating infections without antibiotics. You might Google her and see. Since beginning the AC Protocol with our son, he has not been sick, has needed no antibiotics, and has only needed his rescue inhaler THREE times in ten weeks! This is the longest our son has gone without being sick since before he was fifteen-months old! He is now eleven. Our lives always revolved around his next illness (and we could set our watches by them). He has not needed his nebulizer no has he needed any Pulmacort. Once I upped his adrenal support, he has not needed any meds. That has been two weeks ago. If there is a natural way to deal with infections, I'd like to know, but I know the times my son was bitten by an insect and would develop radiating staph from the bite -- I was too frightened to try anything else. The same goes for his pneumonia, bronchitis, and ear infections. I will say though, that once we had him completely gf/cf/sf, the ear infectious went away. Guest guest
I am not sure where you live but in some areas...it is allergy season..for my kids inhalant allergies and yeast were big culprits for ear infections. We use Xlear and querticin and virastop to help them. The enzymes in the virastop seem to help with the yeast if you are giving it with enzyme type yeast killers. The airborne allergens can be in the house or outside...we are having a terrible time right now as the rains are here and the mold count is way high...bad combo. But with the Xlear and the rest and upping the pros and doing lots of Sac B they are not so bad. hth Ronni > > > > > > Hi, this is an off topic question but since everyone here is well versed in natural remedies I thought I'd try asking this. Guest guest
We found that garlic and mullein oil drops, used prophylactically, were a great help and gave us time to sort out the underlying problems that generally require longer term fixes. The only time you're not supposed to use them is if the ear drum has burst. The sort we used (better than others I've tried) was Eclectic Kids. Guest guest
If you know this already, please disregard - but the purpose of food removal (and artificial colors, flavors, MSG, etc) is to lessen inflammation so that the lymph pathways are more clear for drainage. This is where some of our children have to get so they can detox. Sometimes it involves removing more than just gluten and casein. I am sorry your daughter is sick, I hope she is doing better soon. > > > > > > Hi, this is an off topic question but since everyone here is well versed in natural remedies I thought I'd try asking this. Guest guest
I am fond of reminding people that the antibiotics destroy all the natural flora in our ear nose and throat cannel not only our stomachs. We all use probiotics to repopulate our digestive flora and the same rule applies for ear nose and throat. Just before sleep empty a cap or half cap in the mouth and don't rinse with water. Do it each night for 30 nights. May not be the only answer but certainly a possible piece of the puzzle. Simone >
Guest guest
My best understanding: Recurrent infection mean the infection was never really cleared up to begin with. My ears are a big hold out of problems. I think it has to do with cartilage in the ear, which does not get direct blood flow and therefore heals slowly because nutritional needs and " taking out the trash " are done by osmosis instead. Ears, nose, throat and all that are interconnected. If you want to get rid of the infection for good, you probably need to treat all those areas together, not just the ear. A good quality, high brine sea salt supports mucus health and thus supports the health of the mouth, throat, sinuses etc. You might try brushing teeth, treating the sinuses, etc and then treating the ear. Otherwise, the germs just seem to migrate around. With ears, sinuses, and lungs, my experience has been that you need to do both systemic treatments *and* topical/local treatments, otherwise you don't fully clear it up. If you can give her something orally (like vitamin A and/or E, OLE, coconut oil, or other antimicrobials) or do a whole body heat treatment before locally treating the ear, you will get better results. Heat treatments are tricky and potentially dangerous with a young kid. I used to do a carefully monitored warmer-than-normal bath and then wrap the kid up in a big blanket and stick them in front of cartoons for 15 to 20 minutes. Then treat the ear topically with diluted peroxide and/or diet tonic water, both of which kill stuff. Peroxide is quite drying, so it won't add to moisture issues in the ear. Anyway, there is a page on ear infections on my site: http://healthgazelle.com/earache.shtml Good luck with this. Guest guest
Haven, How long have you been doing the AC protocol. did you notice his immune system improved right away or did it take awhile? my daughter though she has no diagnosis has issues. mainly she is very sensitive to foods and tends toward hyperactivity. i've also noticed she improves on antibiotics. she is speaking good number of words and sometimes phrases now at 19 months but I noticed her words were so much clearer when she was on the antibiotics...that's so weird isn't it?!? even though she's verbal she is no where near as verbal as my other two at this age. oh to answer your question below I stopped vaxing at 6 months when I started to have concerns for her. > > Was the child fully vaccinated? Guest guest
My oldest son recently told me that one night when he was a little boy he got up in the middle of the night and ate lots of salty foods like Parmesan cheese (which may have been Romano at the time, even better for him) and saltines and leftover noodles and fell asleep on the couch. The next morning, he could hear clearly out of one ear for the first time in a very long time and felt better. I have recently come to believe that the ears and nose are some of the first areas that get shorted when there are too few resource to go around. I think this contributes to why they are so frequently infected. Good luck. Guest guest
, I noticed right away. but keep in mind we started adrenal support at the same time (or shortly before we started round 1). I think it was both the ALA as well as the adrenal support (ACE) that turned things around. I am cautiously optimistic (because this is so phenomenal for him that I almost can't believe how well he is doing immunologically). Another mom sent me a research paper on using ALA in kids with Asthma. All the kids improved. adrenal issues can masquerade as asthma, and that's why kids who get put on steroids get better because the adrenals will use the steroids. My son has needed his Xopanex three times since we started. All three times was on day one of a round. That told me to up his Ace ( I started really low to see how he would react). He had his last asthma symptoms over two weeks ago on day one of round nine. I upped his ACE and he hasn't needed ANY meds since. He is now on 50 mg twice a day. Some days I notice that he gets easily upset in the early afternoon --easy to cry, anxious, hyper, clingy. then I know to go ahead and give him his afternoon ACE a little earlier than I give his other afternoon supps. It was amazing the other day when he was having anxiety and being weepy -- I gave his ACE and then he was fine. I think being on the biotin and GSE has helped too, with yeast issues. He will at times stim a lot, but this has been much better this last week. I used to really get bummed when he stims a lot, but mercury moving around can cause it, too, and now unless I see other signs of yeast, I think of it as telling me the ALA is working, and we just keep pushing through. The improvement in his health has just been such a WOW! for us. This is SPRING. The pollen count is high, and he is not showing any signs of allergic reaction. It's like a miracle. We would deal with constant respiratory infections and breathing problems. One spring we just couldn't get it under control. They put him on an oral steroid and he had a psychotic episode! Then I said to the doc, " Have you considered it might be fungal? He looked surprised and then said he hadn't ever thought of that but if I wanted to try an anti-fungal... so we put him on one, and his lungs cleared up after two months of non-stop coughing. , if you are not doing the AC Protocol, please consider it. Get a doctor's Data hair test if you want to check for sure, but most likely she got mercury-laden vaccines and she has retained some. consider the adrenal support. You can start very low and work up. We like chelating with ALA only as our son is such a reactive kid. It is working well for him. a friend we had not seen in a long time came by today, and she couldn't believe the change in Ethan. I found out about AC when Ethan was three, but I was scared. I wish we had started when he was that young. But with each round, I am more and more convinced that within three years, my son will be healed. At least I know the mercury will be out. Put warm olive oil in her ears- it helps the drum expand so she will have less pain and would have her sleep on an incline (prop her up on pillows so that her head is higher than her shoulders) so that her ears will drain while she sleeps. I probably would also give her a small -about half a dose of decongestant right before bed- if you give too early the decongestant might make her hyper ( no more than 20 minutes before bed. You can also give ibuprofen alternating and once the fluid is better give benadryl every so often to help stop any allergic reaction that may cause fluid retention in her ears. My daughter had a slight hearing loss- due to fluid in her ears- that was reversed by doing this. HTH, > > > > > > Hi, this is an off topic question but since everyone here is well versed in natural remedies I thought I'd try asking this. My 19 month old is having recurrent ear infections. She just got off antibiotics last week and the infection is back (or still there never resolved). the doctor gave me a new prescription for a different antibiotic. not really wanting to give it to her but the infection looks bad. though surprisingly she is not all that fussy with it yet. any ideas for natural remedies would be greatly appreciated thanks. she has fluid in her ear that won't drain that seems to be the problem. I've tried a chiropractic treatments but that does not seem to be helping yet. i also have some homeopathic ear drops but hesitate to use them since the problem is with fluid I hesitate to add fluid to the ear. > > > > > >
