Guest guest
Id avoid the really high stuff (veggies: spinach, chard, beets, nuts: almonds, peanuts, cashews, and pine nuts really most nuts are pretty high, fruits: kiwi, star fruit, guava, papaya, beans: black, canellini and great northern/white beans). Karla > > Hello, > I recently found out I am pregnant. I have three children and the second one (a boy) has autism. I think I have everything down as far as supplements to take and what precautions to take to prevent autism but I am wondering how much diet of the mother has to do with prevention. Any dietary suggestions (organic is a given) ? What about high oxalate foods? Advice is appreciated. Vicki >
Guest guest
This is a basic question, buy why avoid high oxalate foods during pregnancy? What you say to avoid are really quite healthy. Are you talking about just some people avoiding them or all pregnant women? Avoid/limit the obvious: fish. Thanks, Pam > > > > Hello, > > I recently found out I am pregnant. Guest guest
Im not so sure that these foods are all that healthy. Spinach and chard may be high in Calcium, but the oxalate levels are so high that the calcium in them isnt bioavailable. If you have a kid with a leaky gut and lousy gut flora, it can be a risky proposition. Why take the risk when there are plenty of other lower oxalate options that are nutritious and bioavailable? I wouldnt recommend anyone with gut issues eat this stuff and for those that dont have gut problems, I wouldnt recommend eating a whole lot of it. Its been shocking to see the number of vegans and vegetarians that end up with oxalate problems after 10-15 years of whats considered to be very healthy eating. Guest guest
Karla, What you have said is exactly what I have found doing some research on the subject. My initial concern was because I had a Zyto scan two days ago and I showed high stressors for spinach, kale, and other high oxalates. I also have leaky gut so I don't want to cause more stress to my body since it's going to be stressed enough with pregnancy and I am an old grey mare about to hit 42 years old! Guest guest
You might want to visit the Trying Low Oxalates Group. Its been a huge help for me (I also have problems with oxalates)and my son. There's a pretty comprehensive list of foods and thier oxalate content and the list owner, Owens, is a wealth of information and help. Guest guest
There's a lady who specializes in herbal supps for moms with kids at risk--she had one kid at risk and then did all the research and had several more after being told they wouldn't be viable. I love her stuff. She has pregnancy herbal supp and even a supp for " Gentle Birth " . If I were prego again, I'd be taking her stuff.
