Guest guest
In my experience, sinus infections are caused by undetected food intolerances that lower your immune system over time leading to bacterial and fungal overgrowth. Used to have them all the time before removing dairy from my diet. > > From the Herbs for Autism blog..... > > http://herbsforautism.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/home-remedies-for-the-dreaded-sin\ us-infection/ >
Guest guest
My little guy is off dairy and still manages to get sinus infections, he has one right now. He will not take oil of oregano (as my other mom friends with children who are ASD recommend). Any other ideas? I read this weekend an ad for New Roots Passion Flower saying it has antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antiparasitic properties as well as protects from stress and anxiety. Guest guest
Funny--I was just telling DH that when I make a passionflower bath for DS (a tiny " teabag " of dried passionflower) that he sleeps so well. In fact, if DH and DS take the bath together, I get a peaceful night cos they're both sleeping well. I didn't know it was good for sinuses--was just about to look it up in my herbals to learn more about it. But I'm gonna get a baggie and use it regularly. There's a lady mountainmeadowherbs.com who has a bunch of respiratory support for kids--I love her stuff. She had a kid with a serious diagnosis, so her stuff comes from deep experience and observation. We got an air purifier for the bedroom in winter--that helps a lot with the raspy breathing we all get in winter. best wishes, Fiona > > From the Herbs for Autism blog..... > > http://herbsforautism.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/home-remedies-for-the-dreaded-sin\ us-infection/ >
Guest guest
I didn't mean to say it is dairy for everyone, that's just what it was for me. > > > > From the Herbs for Autism blog..... > > > > http://herbsforautism.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/home-remedies-for-the-dreaded-sin\ us-infection/ > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Have you tried xylitol in an empty nose spray bottle with purified water? Yes, this is the same as the sweetener. It is antibacterial, so can be sprayed up the nose. Also, spray or drop the solution in his ears as it is all connected. I also add colloidal silver. Guest guest
It's been my experience that a lot of sinus infections can be treated with GSE or OoO. Both taste horrendous, but my son can take them if I cut the smallest capsule down a bit (cut the bigger 1/2) and put in a few drops of the OoO or GSE, and then place it on something thick enough to make it easy to swallow. We use yogurt, but some strained pear puree would work too. It's important to use a lot of probiotics after using these 'killers' as it seems that many of the infections are yeast related. Something like epicor might be part of a long term solution too. My son had a chronic sinus infection that went away with a viral protocol that included OLE, lauricidin, and virastop. Guest guest
Olive Leaf Extract and the Netti pot helped my 8 year old. Sherry
Guest guest
I've not tried plantain yet, but will next time. Thanks! I've been using ACV with water. Whoowee, that is potent stuff, but it works for me. I'm the only one in the house who drinks it though.
Guest guest
Nutibiotic makes a GSE nasal spray. Works every time. I mean, it REALLY works, but it's a bit intense the first few seconds after a spritz as the GSE kills of yeast/bacteria in your sinuses. > > > > My little guy is off dairy and still manages to get sinus infections, he has one right now. Guest guest
<broken record> A good quality sea salt can help support mucus health and that can help with sinus health. </broken record> I also found that pitching out old books, magazines and such helped. Washing throw rugs, curtains, etc. also helped. This helped so much I began throwing out rugs, curtains, etc. Plus some of the usual kinds of stuff routinely suggested here: vitamin a, vitamin e, ole, ooo, cinnamon tablets, garlic....etc..
