For others who want to know a little more about DE...

Drink plenty of water before and after since DE is also a desiccant, very

drying.

(Adult) " Dosage: Take 1-2 tablespoons per day mixed in some kind of liquid or

food. There is no unpleasant taste. Since it will not dissolve, stirring several

times while drinking will prevent settling. Some have experienced higher energy

levels, so it is probably better not to take it right before sleeping. No worry

about getting too much--any excess silica not needed by the body is

automatically eliminated through the blood stream, kidneys and intestines. "

(Personally, I believe one can dose too much with it. It will

detox/chelate/dehydrate. If I were to use it on our 43-lb child, I'd start low

with 0.25 or 0.5 of a teaspoon and build up per week to a teaspoon. The weblink

above has dosing for size-of-pet too, but not of children. There are benefits

to using it though.)

If you are in CA, last I checked, you can't have bulk shipped in, but I believe

it is available in packaged capsules at health food stores as a supplement. I

had to buy mine from a middleman who sold me a bulk 20 lb bag of loose powder.

Note for those thinking of using DE -- DO NOT buy the pool or animal-grade DE,

buy only food-grade.

Our white Berkey water filter media are made from DE. I use DE sparingly in my

veg garden and for ants at the exterior of our house w/a face mask. It's great

for storing bulk staple foods. I used to use it indoors when we had a cat. Now

with no pets and sensitive respiratory systems in the house, I've stopped.
