[ ] Sinus Infection Remedies?

Hello,

My 2 y.o. son has a nasty sinus infection with lots of mucus in his nose and his

throat. The doctor can not offer anything but antibiotics of course.

Is there anything else I can do? Definitely don't want to do antibiotics.

Humidifier and saline drops don't seem to help.

Any natural remedies?

Thank you for your advice.

Manuka honey 16+ is what most of my family is taking. Something went around in

my family that looks like sinus infection or strep but antibiotics didn't help

my daughter or my grandma. I have 6 family members now taking the honey and

seems to keep whatever it is at bay. I know it sounds off the wall, and the

other people hear probably have some tried and true remedies, but this stuff

killed whatever we had going around. Of course it is honey, so be careful of

allergies.

I tried Manuka honey (the real deal. Expensive.) for a month and it didn't seem

to do anything. I never bought another container because of the cost/benefit.

I was hoping for more. I'm glad it worked for you.

The first time I tasted it, I really thought there was something there... it has

an underlying taste of tea tree oil. I'm sure it works for some people, I just

couldn't see any change. Boo.

Maybe I'll try it again next cold/flu season. I took it in the summer without

any real illnesses going around except for the dreaded, deadly, end-of-the-world

H1N1. I didn't catch it.

You can make your own xylitol-saline rinse. There is a recipe here:

http://healthgazelle.com/xylitolsalinesolution.shtml

Adding xylitol to a saline rinse makes it dramatically more effective at killing

infection. Xylitol is a simple sugar. It has no drug side effects.

Xylitol-saline rinses (and nebs) were important to me at one time to help me get

off all the drugs I used to take and begin improving my baseline health.

I have found that wiping out the ears and nose with q-tips that have have had

distilled water poured over them is very effective and very gentle. It is not

enough by itself is remarkably helpful.

Try combining it with a systemic antimicrobial like vitamin A, vitamin E, OLE,

and possibly OoO (OoO helps with fungus and certain infections, it is not as

broad spectrum as OLE and is stronger tasting, so not as kid-friendly I would

think).

Buy some tonic water and pour a little into his juice. By itself, it is

probably not enough. Combine with a couple of other natural remedies, it can be

very helpful combatting infection. Quinine is a natural anti-infective -- an

extract from the bark of a tree.

HTH.

I have had these myself. They were caused by yeast for me. I increased my

biotin and GSE, and the problem went away.

If they were caused by bad bacteria, I would use OLE and OoO.
