Guest guest
Hi, I've seen a lot of pictures presented by doctors and gastroenterologists who treat kids with autism that show the same thing you're talking about--children with severe gut issues in all sorts of position, trying to either have a bm or just ease the pain so that they can sleep at night. It seems very likely that this kind of behaviour is the child doing the best he can with gut pain/gut motility problems, etc. I wouldn't try to change the behaviour, but address gut issues and then in the future, when it makes sense (ie. it's easy for the child to have a normal healthy looking bm) try to teach them to sit down on the toilet. Guest guest
Hi , It's hard for me to visualize your son's position when he's having a movement. It could very well be that his tracts have an easier time moving this way. It truly is much easier to squat to pass fecal matter, more leverage when the body is squatting with knees bent and bum close to the ground versus a sitting position. Being on his stomach might ease pain or help pass gas. Are you noticing any constipation, hard stools or pellet-like stools? Sheila > > Hi All, > My son doesn't sit down for poop even in his diapers. Guest guest
Is he constipated? Perhaps the position that he is getting into helps him pass the stool? Guest guest
When my under 2yr old did this, it was when we'd introduced Trienza, which is constipating. Before that, he was pretty much a poop on the potty only kid, from a young age. Once we backed off the trienza completely and upped his Nofenol for several months, he stopped pooping on his belly only (or he'd want to stand and brace self against side of packnplay).
