I began AC Chelation a year ago when my two girls were 12. One has

high/anxiety & dyslexia and I don't see much improvement in her (she met the

counting rules), but the other, who " almost " met the counting rules and is

ADHD/borderline Autistic has drastically improved, maybe 75%. Both are from

Russia, different birthmothers, and the one it's working so well with was born

at 26 wks and is still very small for her age. She is able to tolerate only a

small amount of ALA still, yet it has nonetheless already caused so much

improvement. She could not tolerate ALA from capsules no matter how small I

divided them, so we use the liquid from Life Solutions and she gets only about

5mg per dose. We tried everything under the sun before this with no success.

Start!

period of time which left my son regressed. I think we've tried every treatment

out there for autism but are not seeing any gains!  My son still can not read or

write. He doesn't use the computer.  Extremly behind in academics or no interest

in learning at all.  He basically have no interest in anything.  Language is

significantly delayed as well.  We've also tried different therapies including

ABA, extra OT etc. with little or no results.  So we're desperately seeking help

for him.

We did not find the helpful information re chelation until 2000 when my daughter

was almost 17y. Chelation has been by far the BEST intervention-'low and slow'

as Cutler suggests. Go for it!!

I chelated myself, when I was in my 30s. Resolved several of my issues.

Have you done anti-virals? That caused more improvement here than chelation

did.

Dear ,

We began AC chelation a little over a month ago, and YES, we see

improvements. I do not believe it is ever too late to chelate. Even adults

chelate and are helped by it. If the day ever comes and I get my amalgams

out, I will definitely chelate. Since having my son and going through this,

I have come to believe my ADD and APD are a result of MP. Probably, since

we broke a thermometer as children and our mother let us play with the

contents!

AC was the first thing I learned about many years ago, and I should have

listened then, but we were scared, and it took us a while to understand a

lot of things.

We did DAN! too. For our son, diet, vitamins, minerals, amino acids,

probiotics, and therapeutic intervention, brought steady gains over the

years. His OCD and SID had disappeared. Then we got talked into doing IV

chelation, and our son had frightening reactions to it. It also brought

back " stimming " some of his OCD and major SID again. Awful.

We started AC, and I already see an improvement in auditory processing. He

is more " with it, " especially during a round. He is now initiating

conversation and self-initiating things like doing his chores and cooking

his own lunch (with supervision), but whereas WE always had to start the

conversation, and I would have to say, " Now it's time for... " He will now

say, " Time to do my chores, Mom. "

I think it is important to have the necessary supplements on board and to

have a good yeast protocol, which I learned form the RFA group. They also

taught me something that has brought about amazing results in my opinion.

they taught me about adrenal fatigue and what to do about it, and how

sometimes asthma symptoms are really just a sign of adrenal stress. They

taught me about the use of ACE.

I bring this up because when my son regressed (lost ALL speech and looked

catatonic), he began getting sick all the time and has suffered many bouts

of bronchitis, other respiratory infections, asthma. He would come down

with some infection every two to three weeks like clockwork. He has had

pneumonia eight times since he was two years old.

The reactions he suffered during IV chelation looked asthmatic in nature. He

also would get repeat bouts of cellulitis(staph). If any insect bit him

(say a mosquito), he would get radiating staph from each and every bite

site.

Since beginning the AC Protocol, our son has not needed a single

prescription medication. He has not needed asthma meds since we started

giving him ACE (Adrenal Cortex Extract).

The toughest part has been controlling yeast, but it has been manageable

using biotin and GSE.

We bare chelating with just ALA only. I am sure we will add DMSA at some

point as I am sure our son has a lead issue, but for now, he is doing

great. The stimming is on the down side again, and we see him steadily

improving. Our son is gf/cf/sf and we continue all the time to improve

diet, as we feel this is important. We have eliminated dyes, nitrites,

preservatives, hormones etc... He rarely gets any food from a can. Most of

his meals are made from scratch. We buy all natural/organic meats as much

as possible and the same for the fruits and veggies, too.

I would suggest to ask to join the RFA group. Get a DDI hair test ordered,

but don't wait to try AC. I was scared too, and after a much needed kick in

the pants, we started, and we are so glad we did. We wish we would have

done this years ago.The getting up every three hours is not as bad as I

thought it would be (maybe that's because my DH agreed to do it:)) I

usually stay up to get the first overnight dose on board and then my husband

does the next two.

We home school, so we start early Friday morning and end at a late bedtime

on Sunday.

You did not say if your son were home schooled or had been in public. I can

tell you that from my experience as a parent advocate, what I've seen is

that schools have such low expectations of our kids that they don't

challenge them. Our kids grow to be lazy (yes, mine was lazy when we

started home school). He didn't care either. Now he does. Now he is

taking initiative. He doesn't read or write maybe because they didn't

bother to give him a foundation for it.

You can buy single books and workbooks for the " Reading Milestones " program

from: http://www.proedinc.com/customer/productView.aspx?ID=2486

This is a good, visually-based program to work on reading, spelling,

language arts and writing skills.

You can purchase individual kits (though these are pricier) from Touch Math

at

http://www.touchmath.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=WYT.welcome & page=GradeLevelProduct

I have seen these programs work time and time again for ASD children as well

as other special needs children.

In addition, I suggest you buy the RPM book and read it. This is a teaching

method created to teach children with autism.

You did not say which part of the state you are in. If you are near the DFW

area, there is an excellent RPM tutor in Dallas who is very reasonably

priced, and she has been a God send to us.

Our son is high functioning now, but he still has problems with focus, and

while he rarely needs the ripping of strips of paper, the letter and number

boards used int he RPM method help to keep him focused and on task.

You did not say if you tried any dietary changes.

Has he had additional speech therapy?

You are going to have to change some things in order to bring about

motivation. The way I did this was I made my son " work " for everything.

The tough part is you stated he does not seem to be interested in anything.

Is there anything that seems to matter to him? A TV show? An activity?

I was lucky as my son fell in love with electronics before he could walk. I

think he would do ANYTHING in order to get time on the computer or an I pod.

The most important thing to start is the AC chelation. Mercury poisoning is

probably the root of the problems. It is not too late.

What are the antivirals?

Have you done anti-virals? That caused more improvement here than chelation did.

For us, the antivirals that worked wonders were Lysine, Olive Leaf Extract and

oil of oregano. The first two really boosted language production more than

anything (except essential fatty acids).

Thanks to all who responded! It sounds very hopeful. We'll get started soon &

My son is 13, we are going on 2 years of chelating him, Cutler protocol, every

2-4 weeks. He says it's helped with his senses (?) and concentration mostly. I

have noticed a change in his auditory processing (it being better) and have seen

decreased impulsivity and irritability. He seems to have much more socially

normal behavior too. (I think his diet changes had something to do with the

decreased irritability and better social behavior) I have also noticed that

some tics went away - with chelation.

4-9yrs old with no success.  We've also tried chelation(DAN method) for a short

period of time which left my son regressed. I think we've tried every treatment

out there for autism but are not seeing any gains!  My son still can not read or

write. He doesn't use the computer.  Extremly behind in academics or no interest

in learning at all.  He basically have no interest in anything.  Language is

significantly delayed as well.  We've also tried different therapies including

ABA, extra OT etc. with little or no results.  So we're desperately seeking help

for him.

mostly on the younger children???  Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi - I started my eldest son at age 9 after a brief period of DAN chelation. He

was d/x Asperger/ADD and had PANDAS, but was in mainstream school so high

functioning. We have been doing rounds every 3-4 weeks for three years.

Chelation has helped with shyness, emotional regulation, social skills,

concentration, independence, visual issues...and the PANDAS. I would definitely

recommend AC chelation regardless of the age of the child. I wish I had done

rounds more frequently but as life starts to become normal it gets harder to

make it the focus of the weekend.

As Jo is saying- it is never too late. Even Andy has said this. I am a chelating

adult and it is helping me tremendously. We started our son young- and he was

very toxic. We still endured a long stall period etc and times where we felt we

were only making baby steps. It is a slow process but it works. We started my

son at 3 1/2 and he is going to be 6 soon; after 119 rounds he has made amazing

strides, still has a ways to to go to be recovered. But people are amazed at how

he has progressed. Without AC chelation he he would still be locked in a world

of silence- with chronic gut issues and a whole host of problems like the ones

you mention. The DAN! Protocol you followed for chelation just made matters

worse. AC chelation actually respects the half life of the chelators and

provides for proper dosing and timing of doses. You have the ability to improve

your child's life immensely-yourself, and no doctor required.

AC chelation would definitely be worth a try.
