Guest guest
don't know about recovery from autism group.... i thaught i read to start with dmsa only first and then after a few rounds add the ala... i ordered that ant yeast aid from kirkman, should be here tomorrow. i had a tutor scheduled today, and she couldn't even work with him. so, now what? push through? and then maybe do a little charcoal tomorrow? > > > > rd 2: dmsa @ 8.5 mg ev. 3-4 hrs > > > > i'm worried about school tomorrow, he's already on walking a thin line... could not even put his socks on, i had to drag him through putting every article of clothing on... extraordinatily clumsy, stubborn, weepy, uncooperative. > > > > anything i can do to abate this situation? > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Just using DMSA is fine. How much does he weigh? Do not give charcoal if you are on a round, only off round. You say your dosing every 3-4 hours. Doses are supposed to be given every 4 hours, try to stick to that. You may want to look into adrenal issues and get a yeast protocol in place. Guest guest
I know of a few people who struggle with the DMSA in the way you seem to be describing--very emotional, everything seems like too much, etc. This is even the same for me--I can take 100 mgs of ala no problem, but 50 mgs of dmsa was too much for me, and I cannot be nearly as toxic as most kids. I know your dose is very low, but I would go even lower on the next round (like 2-3 mgs), or consider an ala only round. If your son hasn't had exposure to mercury in the last few months, no reason why you can't do the ala. I would consider adding in some charcoal at the end (watch out for constipation, which won't help the situation) and add in some extra antioxidants right now, keeping them in for a few days. Guest guest
would it be wise to back down to 6 mcg's for the remainer of this cycle, and go more toward ev 4 hrs. I was doing 3 hrs in the daytime, 4 hr through the night. If he's a bear in the am, i'll keep him home from school and give him some charcoal and the Monday night before bed. i wasn't aware charcoal is constipating, thaught the opposite actually. I can up the biotin, and add in the yeast aid tomorrow? fyi: i spend sept through dec just doing liver life and some supplements to get him ready to begin chelating. argh! just can't bear the thaught of a regression. but, that's what i'm seeing. > > > > > > > > rd 2: dmsa @ 8.5 mg ev. 3-4 hrs > > > > > > > > i'm worried about school tomorrow, he's already on walking a thin line... could not even put his socks on, i had to drag him through putting every article of clothing on... extraordinatily clumsy, stubborn, weepy, uncooperative. > > > > > > > > anything i can do to abate this situation? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I wouldn't reduce during a round but would cut the round short to the minimum. I'm not sure why you were doing dmsa every 3 hours during the day, as for the vast majority of people it isn't necessary. There are some people who do better with doses more frequent than those recommended. If your son doesn't seem to be one, then I'd go back to the 4 hours recommended for most. If you suspect yeast, my recommendation would be to add in a lot of probiotics. Biotin doesn't kill yeast actively, but only prevents yeast from 'hiding'. What we found effective here was giving yeast killers (enzymes mostly) during the night and then a large dose of probiotics in the morning and again later in the day. So, nighttime killing, daytime replenishing the good bacteria. Is your son on all of the recommended supplements? Guest guest
I thaught I read to do dmsa ev 3 hrs and could stretch to 4 at night but go back to 3 in the day. So, maybe it's just too frequent? I've been doing supps 4'x daily. I've just added mag malate and an x tra super antioxident to the next supplement cocktail. I was planning on adding in the ala next weekend... advised? or not? my son had friday and monday off, so i am able to do more than 2.6 days. I've never used enzymes - i have some kirkman samples, would a multi work? i have a pro biotic wafer from kirkmans.. Guest guest
You're thinking of the timing for ALA. At the end of the Supplement file (look in the files section of AM) you'll see the recommended doses for supplements to use while chelating. It doesn't look to me like you have enough. They are dosed by weight for the most part, so you need to calculate for your son. But just a quick glance tells me that you need to up some of them considerably, even if your son is very light. Eg: E should be 500 iu's a day, not 2.5. Antioxidants are very important during chelation. The enzymes I meant for yeast were Candex or a similar product. They are specifically for yeast. You can google that name and read about them. Guest guest
This sounds like adrenal stress. Consider adrenal cortex extract, very helpful for meltdowns that occur with chelation. Don't give charcoal on round with chelators. > > rd 2: dmsa @ 8.5 mg ev. 3-4 hrs > > i'm worried about school tomorrow, he's already on walking a thin line... could not even put his socks on, i had to drag him through putting every article of clothing on... extraordinatily clumsy, stubborn, weepy, uncooperative. > > anything i can do to abate this situation? > > >
Guest guest
DMSA brings out very strong sensory issues in my son. I should mention he has high lead. He has a low tolerance for being told " no " , is incredibly active (has to be moving, jumping, kicking, etc. all the time), is scared of toilet flushing - bath filling at times, perceives communication to be more of a threat sometimes. He is not sensitive to phenols when on DMSA only, but he does have gut pain sometimes after eating due to DMSA just being horrible on the gut. I have found aloe/banana/pear smoothies very helpful with this, along with really good Candida support and probiotics (liking Kombucha tea and cultured veggies best). I suggest you give LOTS of epsom salt baths to comfort him, and if you can, keep him home and comfortable - give him massages or something. Guest guest
With the weepiness, I would suspect adrenals. This is the case for our son. I now know if he gets anxious, has anxiety, is clingy, is quick to cry, then it is adrenal fatigue. I suspect a great deal fo his lung issues over the years has been more adrenals than lungs. since starting ACE, he has had no asthma issues. Of course, someone sent me an abstract regarding ALA helping with asthma, as well, but I know when I see the signs as described above and I have given ACE, it subsides. Guest guest
Adrenal cortex extract, although many of the supps are just called Adrenal Cortex now. I noticed that they have a new brand at iHerb now. It has a higher amount, much like the nutricology one many people used before it was discontinued. http://www.iherb.com/Cardiovascular-Research-Ltd-Cortol-ACE-60-Capsules/27027?at\ =0 Lots of people use this one too: http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-ADRENergize-Energy-50-Capsules/2121?at=0 This one has a lower amount of the adrenal tissue: http://www.iherb.com/Thorne-Research-Adrenal-Cortex-60-Veggie-Caps/18706?at=0 Anita > > > > With the weepiness, I would suspect adrenals.
