Can I add Thyroid test onto dr's order?

We're due to bring my son in for a blood test. Our doc tested him for thyroid 8

months ago and didn't write for repeat. He originally tested him only for TSH

(forget which one but it was only one). Can/should I write in the full thyroid

test for my son on the slip he gave me to take to the lab? If so, what should I

write so I get the right tests done?
