Guest guest
How much Valtrex did you have him on and did you use antifungals at the same time. I think the antifungals are supposed to help with the yeast flare ups during Valtrex. Have you ruled out a milk sensitivity? Guest guest
I guess I'd ask if done any food allergy testing, diets? I'd at least look into the Feingold diet. Check it out if you haven't. Also look hard into the viruses, with the cold sores, herpes related? I think Dana will tell you lysine and more. Check out her web site. If swallowing pills, I'd do a round on the Huma work, a parasite protocol and see if you see any changes. Couldn't hurt. My son was maybe 9-10 when we did a round and he said he felt better on. (I need to do again actually to be safe here too.) Biotin is cheap, doing at least 5 mg twice a day for yeast. Can not hurt. Guest guest
Hi , the things you say make me think that his gut is in bad condition and he needs yeast treatment. What helps my son when his gut is bad is: aloe (eaten raw or in smoothie or just aloe juice), limited diet (no gluten, dairy, soy, legumes), lots of magnesium (epsom salt baths or supplements) - with taurine if not absorbed well, Vitamin C (ascorbate form) or amla. For yeast: Probiotics: After meals and before bed. High count acidophilus and bifidobacterium (Custom Probiotics has a good one on www.ourkidsasd.com, I am not affiliated), and Saccharomyces Boullardii (make sure both probiotics do not contain S. Cerevasae, which is the yeast in the Hep B vaccine, because if he had the vaccine he may react badly to it). Yeast control: 1 of either Candex or Candidaise given on empty stomach during the day or before bed Caprylic Acid - coconut oil, on a regular basis - use on food or in cooking Any of the following after his gut is in better condition as preventative treatment: Grapefruit Seed Extract, Oil of Oregano, Olive Leaf Extract Biotin - essential, use daily Recently I learned that there is such a thing as too much yeast treatment that can lead to an imbalance and bacterial overgrowth. To prevent this, give cranberry juice once in awhile. I think that you should chelate, but I also think that you should concentrate on getting inflammation down by doing an ALCAT food sensitivity test or something similar so that you have a good idea of foods that can be well tolerated on a rotation diet. Chelation is much easier when you have some of the triggers out of the way. If there is constant yeast, my guess is that there are too many triggers and they need to be discovered (they could be supplements too, not just food). If yeast treatment is not effective, try cranberry juice and goldenseal to see if it is bacteria giving him trouble. That is what I have done/would do in your situation. > > Hello, I would like some advice on how to help my son. He does not have an ASD diagnosis, but is probably ADD/mild ASD. Most of his issues are anxiety related - OCD, ODD. He's very hyperactive and most supplements we've tried make him moreso, even the calming ones like 5HTP. Lately his biggest issue is he likes to annoy people. Has anyone experienced this? In my household, my oldest son liked arguing with people and generally getting on their nerves because he was bored. He is very bright and also has a long list of learning disabilities and other handicaps. So he was having trouble getting his intellectual needs met. After I learned he was gifted and realized he did this out of boredom, I was able to break this cycle by taking his negative behavior as a sign he needed something more entertaining/engaging to do (other than watch mom turn purple and sputter at him -- he targeted me a lot in part because he knew that no matter how crazy he made me, I wasn't going to hit him or something). My youngest became less OCD when we began resolving mold issues in the house. Around here, feelings of anxiety seem at least in part related to an immune system under stress. The heart not only powers the blood system it also powers the lymphatic system. We have noted a very clear pattern of stress on the heart at times of physiological stress (including healing crises) that could be misinterpreted as anxiety. I've done a lot of stuff over the years to support my heart -- you might search the posts here for comments I have made in the past on that. Working on supporting my heart health and resolving general underlying health issues has done a lot to make me more grounded and emotionally stable and less anxious. Good luck with this. Guest guest
How many mercury amalgam dental fillings does he have? When were his most recent vaccines? Have you done a DDI hair test and applied counting rules? What's his diet like? Have you tried social stories? Guest guest
>>He gets a lot of cold sores and because the anxiety issues can be realted to viruses we recently finished one month of Valtrex. It helped with the coldsores but his behaviors seem worse. Should we try another month? We've treated for yeast before with Nystatin and VSL#3. I eliminated cold sores here with lysine. And the viral die off caused by the elimination of the cold sores really increased yeast. Since the Valtrex helped, try lysine and significantly increase the yeast protocol. >>We've also done a thyroid test and his THS number was extremely high, but a compounded thyroid medication didn't seem to help. I eliminated thyroid issues here with selenium, iodine, and tyrosine. Dana
Guest guest
Thanks for all the suggestions, I was starting to get discouraged. I didn't give him anything for yeast while on the Valtrex, so that explains a LOT of the past month. I tried Candex over the weekend and he was off the walls the next day. Would that be a " die off " reaction? I'm afraid to try again when he has school. Maybe something else will be easier on him? We did the food allergies panel and the only thing he tested sensitive for was dairy. We try to limit, but now that he's older it's harder. Are there any digestive enzymes that are for good for dairy? He had four mercury amalgans that he had removed about 6 months ago. But it was not a mercury free dentist so I'm sure that's an issue. I do want to get the hair analysis and do the counting rules soon, but thinking we need to get some other things going first. He had the polyphorins(sp?) test done and that didn't show any mercury exposure, but I know that's not reliable. One last question: how can I figure out dosing for all the different supplements? He is a (very thin) 60 pound 10 year old. It seems like even the recommendations by DANs are lower than is needed to see results. Thanks again for all the help... > > Hello, I would like some advice on how to help my son. He does not have an ASD diagnosis, but is probably ADD/mild ASD. Try biotin. The reaction might be intolerance, die off, or that your dose was either too high or not high enough. > We did the food allergies panel and the only thing he tested sensitive for was dairy.
