Guest guest
Glutamine can cause some kids to get really stimmy. It made my kids go nuts. On 3/12/11 4:21 PM, " hdelay@... Guest guest
Haven for my boy stimming is pain. It took me many years to figure that out, but he is in pain and he is trying to divert his attention away from it. He does not stim when he is not in pain. I don't know about your supps because I also have trouble figuring them out, but I give a lot more biotin and Ca and Mag and Taurine than that. However I'm no expert on the supps. Guest guest
Thank you for the advice. I too have trouble figuring it all out. I know some thins Like ALC help him for sure, along with calcium, magnesium, and zinc, and selenium. I'm thinking to eliminate the mutil vitamin and mineral and do thins separately so as to have more control. I will look to see where the glut- amine is coming from (I know it was separate; it was in something else) -- maybe in one of the multis. Thanks again. Guest guest
Removing the multi has helped my boy. At first I thought it was a good thing but he kept falling apart on me and I realized I had increased the multi doseage. It had C and D in it and he cannot tolerate those. Once I removed it I did not notice much, but I added it back again and he got so much worse. Not I am just using individual supps so I can control things better, no multi. I'm finding today that increasing the magnesium is helping a lot. First I increased the calcium citrate and now I'm increasing the magnesium to get to 2:1 ratio. He is so happy, he put on his King Halloween costume and he is dancing to a Barney video. My cute little big boy feels good tonight. Hooray! Deb > > Thank you for the advice. Guest guest
On another autism 'board I had questioned about stimming, several wrote to me stating that it was a sign of leaky gut. When my boy stims, he tells me he is 'thinking'. He usually stims when he is excited or is absorbing something new, like when he draws maps or schematics. I haven't figured out yet what is causing it with him if it is leaky gut. He won't sit still to get his blood drawn for immunoglobulin testing, so I have to observe closely for triggers right now. He has a physical this week, so I may have to hold him if I have a mind to have the tests finally done. Sheila
Guest guest
Sheila, Your son likes to design things too?! My son loves to design buildings inside and out using " Sketch Up. " He says he wants to be an architect. I think you are right. I think I need to exclude the multis. But then do I just buy B vitamins separate? Which B vitamins do you have your son on? when you say a 2:1 ration on the Cal/Mag is that twice the calcium as magnesium or twice the magnesium? I have him on about 400 mg a day of magnesium citrate but less calcium. I am going to stop the multis, I think that is where the glutamine is -- in one of those. But I thik he needs some B vitamins. what do you do for " B " vitamins? When my son is designing, the stimming is absent. His is present when he is not particularly engaged in anything or he is out swinging, which he loves to be on the swing. Thanks for all your help.
