Guest guest
My youngest son use to itch himself all over.I would see big scratch marks all over him from his continuous scratching. I finally had him checked for allergies including food sensitivities. This testing is highly senstive and is done with bloodwork only. We found out that he had an array of food allergies. But wheat flour and glutein were the biggest culprit. After modifying his diet he doesn't itch anymore. You possibly could have senstivities to other things. Perhaps you should have the Dr. check for senstivities to the meds that you are taking too. Guest guest
Hi Cora, The only thing that works for me is Allegra 180......itching is horrible. Joan The last 3 days I have been in " itching hell " . I itch all over. It is sooooo intense! My scratching my legs I have deep bruises up and down my thighs. Now, I know itching goes along with AIH, but as far as I know my AST/ALT levels are normal. I called my liver doc yesterday just to confirm that they were still normal as I am only taking prednisone 5mg every other day. I also take Imuran 50mg 3 times a day. Unfortunately they never returned my call. I do have a cold right now, and some friends thought that I was itching because my immune system is down due to the cold and meds. Any ideas? I have taken benadryl, but that makes me sooooo drowsy and I am trying to work. Thanks - Cora
Guest guest
Shirl I also itched when my levels were high but I have had it as a reaction to Imuran. I also get it when I go in the sun and sometimes with my 6mp. I had tried so many things when my doc. gave me Allegra 180 I cried because I swore it wouldn't work....to my amazement it worked. My friend every now and then has reactions to certain foods and it keeps her up at night itching it has also helped her too. JoanPS I sound like I work for the drug company...heee hee To add one more... for me it's primarily my forearms and I used to wake myself up just scratching away - uggggh! But never to the extent of y'all which I'm happy for. I've always had docs connect it with high bilirubin numbers - not your enzymes. When mine shot so high a year ago I thought I even wanted to scratch my eyeballs out. Does anyone notice the difference between a dry-skin or allergy itch and the AIH itch? I sure do. Siiiiiigh. Hope everyone is having an okay day, and that Cora, something helps. (I like Aveeno baths, personally, but the gunk in the tub is gross.) Guest guest
My hep doc called my house today with my latest labs and all is still within normal range. I wasn't home, my husband took the call and he didn't ask about the itching. The tops of my feet itch, my hands, and forearms, and my thighs, and my back. Maybe its stress???? I'm a Town Clerk in Vermont, which means I am the presiding officer for elections in my Town. Maybe all will be better after Tuesday. Elections are a TON of work, a lot of stress, and pressure. At least in VT we don't have the problems they have in FL. We count EVERY ballot by hand in my town. Not as bad as it sounds, when there is only 855 people on the checklist - but still thats probably around 700 ballots to count. Cora
Guest guest
Gee, Cora, I can't imagine why you'd be under stress! LOL. Is it budget time for y'all, too... and do you have to do that in addition to the election? I work for city gov't here in WA and Oct-Dec is just crabby time for everyone. But counties do the elections here, yay! Hope you figure out the itching. Like I said, Aveeno seems to work for me, sometimes epsom salts. Good to hear your LFTs are normal! Guest guest
That would make a lot of sense since that's the only number that's above normal now. My latest labs just came back and everything's (except the bilirubin) is back to the "normal" range. (Yeah?) Now I go off the preg. and find out what happens next? I definately feel the difference. This itch feels like little bugs crawling under my skin rather than on top of.shirlschultz <shirlschultz@...> wrote: To add one more...for me it's primarily my forearms and I used to wake myself up just scratching away - uggggh! Guest guest
Coconut oil, slather on and often CIndy [ ] itching Hello, How do you gals deal with vaginal itching? I realize it's important to look at it systemically, but is there something I can use topically right away? The itching is external and a big part of the problem is I'm not on steroids for asthma. Guest guest
Thankyou Pam. It sounds like this stuff is pretty special. I found it on a google search. Pretty interesting ingred. For now I'm staying away from soap, using grapeseed oil and I just got a great backscratcher !! J buy Corn Huskers at my local Publix or Albertson's ;-) I have never had much trouble finding it but you have to really LOOK on the shelves because they never have more than 2 or 3 bottles and it is always on the bottom for some reason. It is good stuff. When I was on treatment I itched like crazy and tried everything from Vistaril (atarax), phenobarbital, benadryl, Aveeno oatmeal baths, apple cider vinegar, even clorox. I did ANYTHING anyone suggested because I was going crazy with itching. Tagamet is over the counter now and is an antihistamine that supposedly helps too. I haven't been itching as much since I started on Urso (ursodiol) but I have no idea if that is a coincidence or not. It is used primarily for PBC (primary biliary cirrhosis) as it does something for bile. Anyway, I wish we all didn't itch and I wish there was an easy answer. GOOD LUCK! Peace and Love, Pam
Guest guest
Hi Kathy: My back gets very itchy and I read that it is related to AIH. I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago.....How are you doing on the medicine...I got sick from Imuran. Good luck! T
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Itching can also be caused by low thyroid which is common among people with AIH and/or PBC. The " tanned look " can also be associated with those. You should ask your doctor about these. The thyroid functions are tested with a simple blood test called a TSH, and sometimes they'll order a T4 uptake as well. Sandy C.
Guest guest
Hi Kathy Your tan could be jaundice... as well as the itching. In my case the 6mp has made my skin color darker and every now and then I develope a reaction to my meds. and it makes me itch (not normal itch a crazy inside my body itch) I have found the only thing that helps me is Allegra 180. I would get intouch with your doc. and see what they say. Good luck\ Joan Claffey
Guest guest
Thanks, ! I had a hard time with the imuran in the beginning but my body has adjusted and I tolerate it quite well. Guest guest
Thanks Sandy! I am already on meds for low thyroid and I am having a physical next week at the family doc. Will mention it to her and she can requistion a blood test along with the bone density, mammogram etc. etc. etc.... Maybe the tan is due to my new makeup and cleansing products- they cost enough!!!!! lol Kathy ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals..ca
Guest guest
Thanks Joan! I am due to see my family doc. next week so I will put it to her and see what she thinks. It is probably nothing but with this disease that so little is known about I don't want to take chances! Guest guest
That is interesting that the 6MP darkened your skin. I have vitiligo and the 6MP has helped bring back my color…but I have been noticing that is seems darker…sometimes it looks orange, but my labs are OK…maybe it is just the meds. Thanks for sharing that Joan! Debby Re: [ ] itching Hi Kathy Your tan could be jaundice... as well as the itching. Guest guest
Dear Lara, You did wake up something, in a way. When your liver is handling more toxins it puts out a histamine which causes awful itching. You can soak take epsom salt baths (1 cup per tub) to assist in getting rid of the toxins. You can apply coconut oil on the areas that itch or even some baking soda. You can increase detoxing by drinking more lemon juice and sea salt in water. Extra Vitamin C, 500 mgs. every hr. until you reach bowel tolerance (loose stools). You can even try to increase your coconut oil intake, which is really important for liver functioning. The best thing to do is a coffee enema to help the liver dump toxins and decongest it. The info is in the files. The best to you, Bee
Guest guest
Dear Bee, Thank you, I will read through the files more in a little bit. Still in waking-up mode. It was a long long night, not only itching but also a horrible dream about me being infested with internal parasites. Huge worms, lots of them. Awful dream. I did do another skin brushing before going to bed, and noticed something strange. When I wiped the bristles after doing my legs, I could see very fine " dust " floating up from the bristles. This is our dead skin cells? Dead candida cells too? (can the yeast live on our skin?) I am feeling kind of yukky this morning. And still itching. Think I will take it easy today, just take care of myself and not try to do *everything* on my ToDo List. Bought epsom salts just yesterday... great timing, huh? Epsom salt bath sounds good right now. Don't feel up to doing an enema just yet. best regards, Lara > > Dear Lara, > > You did wake up something, in a way. Guest guest
Hi Lara, It's not fun to spend a night like you had. My heart goes out to you. The dust after dry skin brushing is dead cells, not candida. Bee
Guest guest
My brother has candida on his skin but that isn't normal and your would really notice if you did. Most skin is acid with salty sweat. Most likely it is dead skin cells sloughing off. To get most of this off take an epsom salts soaky bath and scrub well with a loufa or natural bristle brush while in it then again while drying off with a rough towel. --nh From: " croft00lara " <croft_home@...> Subject: Re: Itching I did do another skin brushing before going to bed, and noticed something strange. Guest guest
It could also be food allergies, what do you eat for dinner?? Try thinking about that and make some changes and see if that helps, wheat is a bad culprit. -- Itching I am getting very bad itching. Is this a die off/recycling symptom? I've had it previously both when I was treating candida overgrowth and when I wasn't. It generally is worse at night though not always. Has anybody got any successful remedies or anything to ease the extreme uncomfortability. It is simply horrendous! Also, I'm wondering if it's related to constipation, during yeast die off, when the toxins excrete through the skin rather than the bowels...
