Guest guest
Vitamin D makes him rage. I think it is the oxalate levels and I have removed all Vit C, D, and high oxalate foods. That has caused improvement for up to 3 days in a row but we are still having issues. Maybe getting the Ca:Mag ratio correct will help. I have Vit K but have not tried it yet. Maybe I will try it today. Deb > > > > What is the correct Ca:Mag ratio? > > 2 to 1 > > > Does the ratio need to be in place with every dose? Guest guest
Does sunlight make him rage? If not, then maybe some sunshine will provide the vitamin D he needs without the negative side effect. Guest guest
In the past few years he became phobic about being outside. Quite the opposite of his previous behavior. I think it's because I had started supplementing D and he could not handle so much. Now that I have removed D the school is reporting that he asks to go outside sometimes. So I agree, the sun may be important to us now in order to get some D without it being too much. I will start gardening again this year and I will invite him outside, and let him decide how long to stay out without encouraging it either way. Guest guest
Try to put him in shorts or something, if you can, when you garden and invite him outside. I have heard that vitamin D produced from sunlight is mostly used " locally " , so it matters to get as much skin exposed as possible, preferably without getting a sunburn -- though an awesome sunburn remedy is to stick them in the bath with salt and apple juice. If the sun burn is bad enough, repeat the bath once or twice daily until it clears up. I have had really severe sunburns clear up within about 3 days that way (it helps to put them in the bath immediately as it can stop the progression of the sunburn before it is fully developed). Good luck with this. Guest guest
Upon getting my Naturopathic doctorate I was taught that Calcium and magnesium combo pills cancel each other out. So it is a waste to take them together. Mag should be taken 3 x a day 100 mg each. Make sure it is Mag. Oxide. You need to take them separately for best absorption. You should try Total Nutrition drink that has all that info you can email me back for the recipe or I can give you more information. The BEST calcium is from a mixture I call LEMON EGG. You make it at home yourself so you know it is fresh. This is the best mag I have found on the market. http://store.com/magnesium-oxide-300mg-100-capsules.html Email me for the lemon egg recipe if you are interested. Guest guest
Andy's posts say avoid oxide although I think some parents have mentioned success for constipation. I have never seen any study showing cal and mag cancel eachother out, please post the information on that. I don't have any money to buy a new brand so I'll stick with what I have on hand. I think using one particular brand is not so important, the body uses them the same way, it's the ingredients that matter. Please post the Lemon Egg recipe here on the website since most people can't email you offline, that's why we use the message board. Thank you. Guest guest
Michele, i appreciate your input. A red flag went off in me, as well. Mag Oxide is not the best absorbed, and I read that if you are chelating then citrate forms can help the kidneys and push the excreted metals more towards the intestinal excretory pathway. Oxide firms stools while glycinate and citrate soften. Think I have that right, I hope so. When I want to really know something, I look at Danasview, onibasu, or re-read a portion of Andy's book or look on Moria's page and others who I feel really confident in. If I haven't seen them post much, I question the advice, especially if they are trying to push me to buy a specific something. Thanks, Haven
Guest guest
I am different on this. My mom used to make " egg milk " for us all the time when we were kids. She had an ulcer at one time and a doc gave her the recipe, and of course she swore this helped her, but it tasted good. she would mix an egg in milk and add a little sugar and vanilla and blend it in the blender and then put it in the freezer and let it get very very cold. We loved it, and none of us ever got sick. She let us have cake batter, too --- I know it's bad -- all that sugar we grew up on, but we never got salmonella from that. I did get it at eighteen going through a fast food burrito place. It was horrible! I was very sick for a long time and wound up with an enlarged liver and some liver damage. NO fun and I am very picky about meat and fast food. Anyway, You can get it from raw eggs, so I don;t know if I'd ever risk getting that again. But we drank the raw egg milk for years and never got it. What I would worry about in the hen houses (I've been in many of them too) is the arsenic-laden chicken feed they feed the hens to fatten them up. You gotta know that arsenic gets into the eggs, too. I want my chickens back so bad! Our neighbors dog got them all. I miss our farm fresh eggs! Doesn't egg nog have raw eggs in it? Do they somehow pasteurize that? Guest guest
I think my aunt was speaking about the items that got on the outside of the shells. I'm just not sure I could clean the eggshells to make it worthwhile. The calcium citrate I bought was a very large bottle for about $10. Sometimes I prefer to make it myself, othertimes it does not seem worth the effort. Cookies are a good example. I can bake GFCF egg free cookies and they are less expensive than the store bought ones. However the store bought ones taste GREAT and pack more easily in the lunchbox. I guess it's a matter of time, money, and preference. Deb > > I am different on this. My mom used to make " egg milk " for us all the time > when we were kids. Guest guest
That was my thought as well -- that the " write me privately " thing was a ploy. But I am still waiting to see if I hear back from the unfortunate soul who made the mistake of emailing me last night and asking me (in a somewhat accusatory manner) why I was leaving some list I unsubbed from Friday. (Be careful what you ask. Someone might just give you an effin answer.) And had to ask a relative for money Friday so they won't cut my electricity off this month. I wish I knew how to make money online, but there is no way in hell I am going to do so by giving bad advice on this list to sell shit. I put up with the crap on this list and come back to it over and over (and feel a need to " give back " ) because this list is the *only* list I have ever belonged to that actually helped me with figuring out what I needed to do to get well. I recently concluded that I support this list as much as I do in part because Dana and Andy are actually competent. I'm apparently quite the insufferable asshole when I think the people in charge (or in positions of power, since Andy isn't actually a moderator here) are idiots and doing it all wrong. (No wonder I get thrown off lists.). Anyway, going to go crawl back into my hole now. <hisss> Michele > > Well, I tend to agree with you, but more so because I assume the request to email privately for the lemon egg recipe is a ploy of some type. Hopefully, I don't get throw off this list too. :-/ So watch your language folks. Mmkay? Guest guest
My dh grew up on daily egg nogs made with raw eggs and never got Salmonella. I have given them frequently to our little one made from raw, pastured eggs. Ice cream, for years was made with raw eggs and we still do make homemade ice cream with raw eggs. We do wash the eggs in their shell in warm soapy water as Salmonella occurs primarily on the outside of the egg. > > I am different on this. Guest guest
Like Dr. VonH/ Von Hilsheimer PhD??? How the heck did I get on *his* list? Guest guest
WOW .. .. grow up already.. All I got to say is I am not trying to sell anything to the group. I was giving you my educated opinion. As you can see the website listed does NOT belong to me.. nor do I get paid in any way from it. I have tested many types Magnesium and the one I suggested was the best one on the market and inexpensive. I am going to remove myself from your delusional board.. You trust something that is still giving you NO RESULTS.. If anyone wants my Lemon Egg recipe they can ask offline.. I don't have time for this type of treatment.. Take care.. Guest guest
That would be Michele, with one L not two. You are free to back up your claims that this is helpful information. A good way to do that would be a link or a logical, fact-filled explanation. Accusing me of being delusional in no way proves your advice is sound. And if you think I'm wounded, you really need to try harder. I've had much, much worse things said to me on CF boards where people are openly abusive with the backing of the moderator. But if you want to leave: Good riddance. Michele > > Nice.. comment.. If I was trying to sell you something I wouldn't put it on > the board.. everyone's email is on these messages. Guest guest
I'm a Freedom of Expression advocate (amongst other things) and would rather not see you go, Dr. Wani? .. . Your response was sufficient enough for *me..* I have no issue (complaint) with what you said, and seriously doubt many others do. What you said was provocative, (perhaps) so what, if you meant it or felt so (of such facts? if we here would be about any facts at all?) That's what this board encompasses, I figure If you want to avoid the abuses of politics (people speaking for you or feigning to represent you or people like you/us?) the responsible thing would be to stay on board and to do so for yourself, speak for yourself and for people like you (as you did!)(Where conclusions or commitments are like, oh, so, over-rated, and limiting? to Understandingmore? .. . I hope you're still around to appreciate that, (other's appreciation if not only mine?) as I do believe most people would want you around in that respect.. . I do believe that was called for and is our responsiblity to say as much, where we feel so, for each other of as much.. . (If we're not a group for justice and understandingmore we're nothing, of The sort, I Feel as understand.. . Like, where should that begin and be happening, for It to be happening, is not so much a question for me alone, if not so alone) Life is a balancing act of sorts, where feelings tend to neutralize each other for a/the greater understanding (Hello) of more, that that isn't the promise of communication itself, (of Us?) that anything could be so noble and just.. . Censors are the bigger liars (of abusers?) as far as I'm concerned, and I wouldn't want to see you go in that respect, 'cause, I do believe we all deserve to be understood! (Don't you? really?) that that wouldn't be the basis of a group so wise and just, but I Feel It Is! *Welcome,* if you haven't left. Glavic I just plan to use the genuine appreciation I feel on this one.. . I'll leave the prosecution for another day? where you can't read It in as much.. . That'd be how *Communication* (and Justice, of Understandingmore) *works,* is my sense of It.. . > > WOW .. .. grow up already.. > > > > All I got to say is I am not trying to sell anything to the group.
