I've tested my boy's saliva every few hours since last night and

actually he fluctuates to both sides of normal.

During rage he is on the acid side.

When he is saying " I feel better " he is on the base side.

I tried diet tonic water and it stopped the rage. I don't understand why since

when I test the tonic water it is acid. Vinegar tests acid also. Why does the

tonic water make the body more base?

He has acid reflux and the medications likely make him fluctuate back and forth

between acid and base. I will go back to your website again to check out the

foods.

Quinine is a powerful alkaloid. It's possible that sugar in the tonic water

causes it to test as acid. I have had others tell me that tonic water is acid.

But the quinine itself is a powerful alkaloid. Also, apples and apple juice are

very good for the PH balance but test as acid. They are the same PH balance

human skin is supposed to be. So one thing that can happen is that something is

helping to correct the body to the normal/healthy level of mild acidity that we

are supposed to be. (As an aside: Pectin also does good things for blood

sugar.)

I initially drank tonic water as I was in crisis all the time. But I found that

over time a better thing to do was to eat the right foods and oils and minerals.

Liquids can have a strong short-term impact and bodily fluids (like saliva or

stomach acid) can be moved a good deal in a short time. But since my acidity

was rooted in my tissues, I felt that changing the PH of the fluids was really

superficial and I needed to shoot for something deeper than that. I found that

oils had a strong, persistent impact as did solid foods and minerals. The right

oils did good things for me. The wrong oils/fats did very bad things for me. I

wanted the building blocks of my body to be the right PH, not just the surface

fluids. It took quite a long time. I ate lots of lettuce, apples, corn and

watermelon for a long time. Those are all foods I tolerated well that helped

with this issue (and apples and watermelon have other benefits -- like apples

help the blood sugar and watermelon is good kidney support).

For me, acid reflux was related in part to dehydration. I only got it when

dehydrated. I stopped getting easily dehydrated with getting enough of the

right fats/oils and Celtic sea salt (as well as generally resolving infection

and other issues). I was very thin as a child and I was quite a large woman

later in life, after taking lots of steroids and other crap for my health. But

my body wasn't solid. I suspect I was mostly bloated (and some of this was

confirmed by a physical I had a few years ago). I think I probably have more

actual fat in my tissues now than I have ever had and I am thinner than I have

been in years. Healthy fats play an important role in the body. Protecting

against dehydration is apparently one of them (which makes perfect logical sense

to me).

If he tolerates apples, you might see if he will eat apples and/or drink apple

juice since they are similar to the PH balance we are supposed to have -- as a

means to try to stabilize it at that point. Since his PH is fluctuating, I

would see if trying to stabilize it will help. Since he has acid reflux, he may

really be too acid and need some help with that. Or dehydration may be a big

factor in his acid reflux. Or it may be a combination of the two.

HTH.

And great detective work. High five, mom!

Let me also add that lemon tests as acid but helps alkalinize the body. As I

understand it, this has something to do with how some things are metabolized.

That piece of it is not something I am real clear on either. I just know that

changing how I ate to intentionally make my body less acid did very good things

for my health.

Sorry to leave that detail out earlier. Been a long day.

Take care.

wow..good point about the oils.

i also want to conclude, lemons are acidic but alkaline in the body. so its a

synergy between the body and the chemical that make it acid or alkaline.
