Guest guest
not sure but i have heard of kids with hypothyroid have issues with missing adult teeth ....maybe have that checked out From: Marty Landman <mlandman@...> Subject: [ ] missing adult teeth? Date: Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 2:56 PM Â This is off topic I guess just wondering if anyone else has encountered this phenomenon. We have found out our 14 yr old who has high functioning autism and was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant - that dx subsequently removed - is missing two adult teeth with a 3d not well developed. The dentist showed me on the xrays yesterday. Marty
Guest guest
Mine has the opposite problem; he still needs to lose some of his baby teeth. He's 10 (will be 11 in August) but only lost 5 or 6 of them. Is that common? April [ ] missing adult teeth? Guest guest
YOur teeth require thyroid hormone to erupt at the proper time and grow to the proper size. When thyroid hormone is lacking they roots grow much more slowly, enamel is thinner and you loose your baby teeth much later you might want to check that out Simone On 2011-04-06, at 4:31 PM, April itz wrote: > Mine has the opposite problem; he still needs to lose some of his baby teeth. Guest guest
Thanks Simone! Does my son need to see a specialist or a regular ped can order the test for his thyroid hormone level? Guest guest
I'm not sure either, but I can tell you that after my son was mercury poisoned, allhis baby teeth began to demineralize, and the permanent ones tht have come in, don't look normal. He is going to need braces -- which I have no idea how this is going to work for him since we are chelating and he has sensory issues. I know I was told early on that mercury poisoning causes abnormal mineral transport and really messes with calcium. If the body doesn't absorb or metabolize enough, the body will suck calcium out of the teeth. Haven

He's 10 (will be 11 in August) but only lost 5 or 6 of them. Is that common? For my kids, this was caused by hypothyroid issues. The teeth started falling out when I started giving thyroid support supplements [selenium, iodine, tyrosine]. Dana

Guest guest
Yeah...have heard of it and experienced it...lol Me!! I had several molars that were baby teeth....so yeah I know it happens. As to why..I had attributed it to being FAE. My thyroid had been tested several times as a kid and showed normal. Too bad they didn't test my adrenals then. Oh well....live and learn. > > This is off topic I guess just wondering if anyone else has > encountered this phenomenon. Guest guest
I read that we cannot fix the hypothyroid issue before we address adrenal issue. My son has both of them. Dana, may I ask you, did your child have adrenal issues, and in which order did you address it? Or, you just started thyroid support? Thanks in advance for your reply! They were in the 10-14yo range at the time. I started low doses and worked up. Guest guest
> I read that we cannot fix the hypothyroid issue before we address adrenal issue. I would be very skeptical of anything or anyone who indicates you " can't " do something. It may be that adrenals and thyroid work together in some fashion [i have not researched that], and you may not have as good of results if one is weak while the other is being corrected, but if your child is deficient in selenium, iodine, or tyrosine, why couldn't you start giving them? >>My son has both of them. Dana, may I ask you, did your child have adrenal issues, and in which order did you address it? Or, you just started thyroid support? Because my kids had all the symptoms of hypothyroid, I started with thyroid supps. Selenium I started many years ago, iodine and tyrosine last summer. I have tried Thorne ACE, it was a decidedly NASTY experience. In fact, the most recent time I tried it was bad enough that last weekend I made a site page about it. http://www.danasview.net/SJS.htm Dana
Guest guest
the reason they say you should not start treatment of thyroid without addressing adrenal issues is due to the fact that with out adequate amounts of cortisol you cannot use or tolerate thyroid hormones...this goes for whether you have too much or too little cortisol...so the thyroid hormone can pool and not get into the cells....or you can have intolerance issues that feel bad and then cause more issues with adrenals....other possibilites these are just a couple of things...there is a good group naturalthyroidhormonesadrenals they are really good at helping set it all straight but there are very good reasons to do it in the right order.....i have had to do this with 3 kids, myself, and my husband.....they helped me a lot.. Guest guest
Thanks for the answer, Dana! My son is not deficient in tyrosine, according to his AAT, so I will try iodine first. As for ACE, I recently had very bad trial experience with AdrenErgizer. After taking half capsule (125mg) I almost crashed with a hypoglicemia, had headache for several days later. I also feel constantly thirsty, and want to check my blood sugar... Guest guest
mostly the adrenals group......and sttm also has good info on getting adrenals in shape and how it plays into thyroid ...personally also had bad results with my kids who had adrenal issues ...which i just made worse by doing just thyroid without getting those in better shape first...so we had to back track and wasted a lot of time....i am sure some have success doing it that way....but not us...  also in one of my kids when i fixed the adrenal issue the thyroid issue fixed itself.....dr lowe has good info on this too...so do orthers.... Guest guest
I had an interesting conversation with a dentist about this recently. My daughter's permanent front teeth just came in and one of them has a large white spot on it (they are also extremely crooked and will need braces, which will not go well). I asked him what could have caused this as I was very careful with fluoride (didn't give at all until she could spit, etc.). He said it wasn't the fluoride because if it was it would have been spots on all her teeth and that they are seeing these spots in kids in dramatically increasing numbers. He said he has friends all over the country who are seeing the same thing. He also said it is something they are only seeing in our country and that he has friends who go to third world countries, where they have terrible oral hygeine, but they don't have the spots! Also, most interesting is he made a reference to " developmental issues " but I never mentioned she has autism (and she was not with me). > > I'm not sure either, but I can tell you that after my son was mercury > poisoned, allhis baby teeth began to demineralize, and the permanent ones > tht have come in, don't look normal.
