2 sources to look into for a start regarding fluoride:

The Fluoride Deception by Bryson

http://www.fluoridealert.org/fluoride-facts.htm

We are in San Diego where there has been legislature waiting to be passed on

fluoridating our water--of which I oppose(d). We currently have municipal water

which is treated with chloramine (ammonia added to chlorine), no fluoride...yet.

Chloramine is a disinfectant, and being added so that municipal water can be

stored longer.

Become familiar with what's in the local water supply by contacting the local

municipal supplier and city or county water authority -- usually the

authorities' websites have a breakdown of what is in the piped water and what

its being treated with.

Something else to consider about the tap: Personally, we use a gravity-fed

water filter w/fluoride filtration for drinking water, and looking into

whole-house filtration for this year--chlorine takes approximately 3 days to

evaporate and chloramine takes longer ~7 days, according to the head chemist

from the office of our municipal water supplier. She considers chloramine safe,

yet she did tell me that she uses a Brita filter at home. I guess chloramine is

" safe enough " in the water (in quotes because I think adding chloramine is

overkill), but I don't plan on drinking it regularly, and I don't want it on my

family's skin.

Don't get me started on the pesticide content from run-off!
