Guest guest
Hello everyone: I have been offline for a few weeks, dealing with kidney stones. When at the hospital they did a scan of my abdomen and found that my liver is enlarged. Anyone know what this means? I googled it and I got many reasons and that it's a symptom of another problem. ???? -- Zurama Mickie 13yrs Round #47 25mg DMSA 25mg ALA Autistic by Injection <http://mickiesprogress.blogspot.com>
Guest guest
When I was eighteen I bought some food at a fast food restaurant on my way home from work. Then I became terribly ill. It took a while -- a long while to get a right diagnosis, but I had salmonella. By the time I was diagnosed my liver was enlarged and I had albumin in my urine. the doc said that was a sign of liver damage. Check albumin in your urine. thank god the liver can heal/regenerate. It took me a long time to recover, and I wound up having some kidney problems too with stones on three occasions, but I got through it. The kidney stones and problems disappeared when I gave up Dr. Pepper. Now I rarely ever drink anything carbonated. My urologist years ago told me Dr. Pepper was very high in oxalates. I don't know if that is true or not, but once I gave it up, I have had no more stones in thirty years. (Okay, I have a sip once in a while but just a sip on rare occasions.) My brother too adored Dr. Pepper and had kidney problems. He stopped drinking it and his kidneys are now fine. In my case, the enlarged liver resulted in having salmonella poisoning for a while before I got the right diagnosis. It took me ten years before I could go near that restaurant again! Have you had any nausea, vomiting, or pain in the upper right quadrant? When Mine was enlarged this area would ache so badly! Hope you feel better soon. When i was sick, for some reason the only thing I was able to keep down was apple juice. I drank a lot of apple juice and got a lot of rest. Guest guest
Thank you for responding...... I don't know about the albumin level now-I'll have to look into that. My urologist took a sample on Monday. I had nausea and vomiting, the day after the worse pain, with shivers and high fever. Then about a week later after being in antibiotics for days y still had a low grade fever and that went on for about a week. Now I feel five. Will have another scan next Tuesday, then the doctor will tell me the best way to get rid of the 15 centimeters of stone or cluster that is still mid way in my kidney. At the hospital two weeks ago, when I was feeling terrible, the Albumin was 3.6- I don't where it should be. I have noticed over the years, since about 2000 I get a sharp pain behind my right ribs, but it hasn't happened lately. I don't drink doctor pepper, never liked it. I do drink pepsi once in a while. I've have had a problem with kidney stones since about the same time as that pain. I didn't know at the time, but there is scaring in my left kidney, so I had been passing stones since then. I thought it had to do with drinking to much tap water, which I had done for years-not anymore! I read at the Urologist office that drinking 100% Orange juice helped prevent kidney stones. I wounder if taking Milk Thistle is a good idea at this point??
