Guest guest
I don't post a whole lot but I thought I'd give everyone an update on my almost eight year old (next week) daughter. I started AC chelation last May with her. She is pretty severely affected, nonverbal, never stops moving, no playskills, etc. etc. I was thinking six months into this that it was doing nothing for her and making her worse. She developed horrible rashes and red body flushing that really scared me so I took a six week break over Thanksgiving and Christmas. At this point we had done 18 rounds. About three weeks into the break her rash began improving (although it never went away entirely and it still flares up off and on to some degree but not like it was) and for the first time in months her belly was not distended. I saw some pretty neat cognitive things out of her, she brought me videos and would lead me to the DVD player (this child had no concept of cause and effect before) and began vocalizing more often and her signing came back. She stopped wetting the bed for the first time ever in her life (wet it every single night, pretty much, before chelation; she was dry for two weeks straight on the break). She also stopped being insanely obsessed with water and started looking at toys. I was able to see by taking the break that this IS helping her. I started back up in January and decided to just use the DMSA once a month as I think that one is kind of hard on her. I have done three rounds since the New Year and she is doing very well. I can tell her body is finally handling it's yeast overgrowth much better; when I started this it did not matter how many antifungals she was on, she ALWAYS had yeast regardless of what I did. Now if she gets it and I treat it it goes away within a few days. I did have an ALCAT run and found that she is sensitive to a lot of highly phenolic foods and also lutein. I removed those and her redness and rashes disappeared and became even less frequent. She WALKS through the store now instead of galloping everywhere like a little horse, she is pointing to things, she really seems to be understanding " cause and effect " , yesterday she brought me a raw potato and led me to the stove and pulled on the olive oil and the drawer with the cutting board in it, this is huge for her. She is figuring her way through all my childproofers that have been on the cabinets for years now (much to my dismay but I have to smile, it is progress) and is unscrewing caps off her bottled drinks (kombucha) on her own. Her belly is no longer bloated and I can tell her kidney function and urinary control has improved (she used to literally pee every few minutes during the day EVERYWHERE, it was so bad). So I am going to keep on keeping on. If you are chelating an older, more severe child, please do not give up. I was ready to and I thank God I did not. Basically what I'm doing at this point is every ten days doing a round of ALA alone (3 mg a dose, she sure doesn't need much) and then every third round I add in DMSA (5 mg) to take care of any lead she has (and she does have it). She gets the usual minerals and antioxidants, milk thistle, etc. and probiotics on and off round, tailored to whatever we are doing. I did find that when I upped her magnesium and added taurine for absorption she got a lot better also. I just wanted to post an update and I am sure I will put up another one after we do a few more rounds. I intend to get several more in and take another month break this spring to give her body a rest and see what I see. and
