Guest guest
Taurine is calming and I don't believe it has caused any yeast. It has definitely not caused any poor behavior. I buy 600mg caps and I started with 1 and then worked up to 4 or 5 at a time. I think that's a lot, but then again my boy has severe rage and aggression and we were in an emergency situation. He was kicked out of school (illegally) because they just couldn't handle him. I nearly lost my childcare (my parents) because they just couldn't handle him. It's not safe for him be like that. Taurine has been one of our miracle supps. Chelation AC protocol is #1 on the list. Taurine and Biotin #2. Adrenal Cortex has also caused a lot of calming. I took his temp and he was all over the board and I tried Adrenal Cortex Extract. I TRULY believe in adding 1 supp at a time. I have tried so many supps over the years and I was impatient. I would try a few at a time. Then you really don't know if one of the supps is causing the rage. So finally I started over AGAIN and I waited min of 4 or 5 days between supps. If it was calming, I kept it. If not, I put it in a box and might try again later because his needs might change. I'm no expert. In fact I really hate that this is so difficult for me and my boy suffers so badly. He's already 15 yo and the rage gets worse as they get older, bigger, stronger. However chin up, we are on the right track, and AC chelation and Taurine and Biotin and liquid vitamins and ACE help a lot. The mercury is the problem, not the boy, not the mom, not the supps. Guest guest
I sympathize with you. My boy is also diagnosed with Acid Reflux and IBS. The Acid Reflux was one of our worst problems and I believe was a major cause of aggression in the past. AC chelation has reduced that to the point that we have been able to elimiate the Rx Acid Reflux meds over the last 3 months. They are bad because while they help reduce the acid and the pain, they don't allow the body to digest, which worsens the constipation, and I believe then worsens the Acid Reflux. It's a never ending cycle. My boy had 2 endoscopy and colonoscopies, was on Rx Acid Reflux and IBS meds for years, is strict GFCF for 10 years. Only the AC chelation using ALA every 3 hours has worked to resolve that. His digestive issues are improving for the first time in his life. Guest guest
ALA alone. I use 25mg ALA every 3 hrs around the clock every other weekend. He is 134 lbs. I tried ALA 33mg and was not happy at all, I much prefer the lower dose. He is so calm on rounds and so happy. It is a wonderful miracle to see him so calm. It has changed our lives. My boy may have high lead also, not sure. We will worry about that later. ALA is what is working right now. Trying the DMSA made him miserable, so we can't go there right now. Guest guest
I think at the minimum dose it resolves yeast. I think that is what Andy Cutler's book talks about, that using ALA is what removes the mercury, and ultimately resolves the yeast problem. I give Candidase and Capryl and Biotin for yeast. I give them on round and off round. Giving too high a dose of ALA would cause yeast I think. Guest guest
Biotin will help keep yeast in check. The good flora in the gut produce it. It can cause die-off though. Guest guest
We have acid reflux and yeast issues...and taurine has never bothered either. We give 2000 mgs a day of taurine with no issues. Biotin has helped control yeast...not increase it...but ya have to use big doses sometimes...sometimes we have given up to 60+ mgs a day...divided to help the gut....and they routinely take 32 mgs. Sometimes it is a matter of weighing in on what is gonna help the most. Chelation causes tons and tons of yeast....but I definately would not say not to do it because of that. Sometimes you just have to find new ways of fighting old issues so you can do the greater good....at least that is how it works at our house. > > The only thing that concerns me about Taurine is that it increases stomach acid > which my son gets acid reflux and I don't want to make it worse. I also read is > that Biotin does create yeast, but I can't understand that because it's not a > Vit B it's considered Vit H. I have to very careful because my son does have a > leaky gut, acid reflux and yeast problems and if one supplement is helping > something but creating yeast it basically cancels itself out because he'll get > the bad behaviors from the yeast. So I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. > Thank you. > Jeanne
Guest guest
No expert here but for my very yeast prone kiddos, ALA raised yeast levels beyond belief...even on the min dosing. Alot I think depends on how the liver is working, the ph base, their immune system and constipation levels. At our house, we used high dose biotin, Candex, caprylic acid, undecylic acid and nystatin....on and off rounds and sometimes...we had to stop for a few weeks to get the yeast down to bearable levels for all of us. We also kept a low carb diet and did lots of pros and left the sugar almost totally alone...definately not a fun time or easy time...but the results have been great. We also used DMSA, it is better for yeast, but doesn't cross the blood brain barrier, so ya gotta do em both to get it all. hth Ronni > > > > Has the ALA caused any yeast problems for your son? > > Thanks > > Jeanne > >

Guest guest
It used to be called Vit H before they reclassified it as a B vit (B7 I think). It is good for yeast, but it can take high doses. My son takes about 40 mg a day to help with mito function. Keeping yeast under control has been an added bonus! Guest guest
If you are interested in the re-classifications of the vitamins, you can also check the Wikipedia entry on the newest classifications under " vitamins " --at least I believe they are new.
