Guest guest
Seventh Generation has worked great for us. Available at Target and lots of other stores. [ ] laundry detergent when allergic and chemically sensitive Anyone with allergic and chemically sensitive families, Have you found a laundry detergent that is suitable to use? In the past I used " Ivory Snow " because at least the family didn't get rashes from it, but I think I need to find something milder, something that has fewer chemicals in it because we seem to be having other reactions that may be related to the laundry soap. Anyone??? Thanks J
Guest guest
Hi, you might try the Ecos Natural laundry soap. It can be found at Sams Wholesale Club. Guest guest
We use Seventh Generation Free and Clear laundry detergent and have not had any problems with two people who are very sensitive to various detergents, softeners, and scents, including Ivory, Tide, Downy fabric softener (really bad stuff) and many others. We can not use the Seventh Generation scented version, though. Guest guest
Borax is an old fashioned natural detergent. Hulda (the ND developer of the parasite cleanse a lot of people follow, and author of the book The Cure for All Diseases)says to wash everything in borax. It works just as well as detergent. And it's 4 dollars a large box. We get it at walmart--hard to find at other stores sometimes. I add vinegar for hot washing dipes, but I've just discovered/realized that white vinegar is grain-based (after DS's reaction when I put a wee bit in his bath during para cleanse). So I'll be switching to apple cider vinegar for dipe washes. best wishes, Fiona > > Anyone with allergic and chemically sensitive families, > > Have you found a laundry detergent that is suitable to use? Guest guest
Fiona, You can use some rice vinegar, too, but the apple cider is probably cheaper.
Guest guest
7th Generation free and clear (unscented) and SoapNuts work well here. For softener, 7th generation free and clear cut 50% with white vinegar is just enough to keep the laundry static free and not like cardboard. We use those nubby dryer balls in place of fabric sheets. > > Anyone with allergic and chemically sensitive families, > > Have you found a laundry detergent that is suitable to use? Guest guest
Probably not helpful, as I am too much of a statistical outlier even for this group, but we don't use detergent at all. We hand-wash clothes and use stuff like peroxide and diet tonic water. Then hang to dry (indoors, in front of a fan). We also shop carefully for clothing that dries easily with this arrangement and are picky about what kind of dyes and stuff the clothes have. I've had a few occasions where I brought home some lovely multi-colored shirt and my son threw it out before I could wear it once, pronouncing it too disgusting to wear. We found that the washer and dryer were part of the problem. If we are purging badly -- sweating out infection and old chemicals and it is contaminating the clothing -- we throw stuff out and buy new. (We've done a lot of that this month and it has been quite hard on the budget.) Good luck with this. Guest guest
I like Shaklee products. I use their laundry detergent. It's $$$ but good. Guest guest
I also had to switch to the Seventh Generation Free and Clear because my son reacted to their scented formulas. He is very sensitive and doing fine with this. I use less and then throw some baking soda in the drum (HE washer) to do the rest of the cleaning. We're going to make our own with castille soap soon though. We don't use any fabric softener so I can't help you there. I thought about using those nubby balls but I worry about the heated up pvc or plastic.
