Spitting/blowing 'raspberries' - behavioral or something else?

My 5 y/o is doing this and has been for the past few days (will spit onto the

floor or her shirt or blow raspberries into her hand). We have been doing our

best to discipline her but it dawned on me that she doesn't do this often and

may have done it last year for a brief period.

Has anyone had this type of behavior that can be attributed to a deficiency or

allergy or something? Or could it be strictly behavioral? I'd hate to be

trying to discipline something that might be better addressed supplementally.

Thanks!

For us it is yeast.  Working on taking out food that causes a yeast flare or

giving more probiotics or natural antifungals completely eliminates this.

For us this was absolutely NOT anything behavioral. It stopped within days of

adding carnitine and upping zinc.

Our OT tried to get us to " train " him to go into the bathroom to spit into the

sink. With addressing the deficiencies, it went away and I never did " train " him

to spit into the sink. Insstead he stopped the behavior.

I recall my son playing with his spit at one point. It was annoying, but left

after awhile.

For a very short period, my daughter would spit in her hand and wipe it on

stuff

or rub her hands together. I originally thought this was yeast but eventually

found that this was behavior.  I increased the yeast protocol, everything got

better except the spitting.  Went to her therapy center and found that another

kid that she was around did it constantly and all the other kids started doing

it.  I had them separated and about 2 weeks later, the spitting stopped.

This meant carnitine deficiency at my house.
