Guest guest
We have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. They pay for his ABA Therapy ($25 copay each day) as he attends an ABA Based School for 8 hours a day, Lab Work, DAN visits (out of network - must meet deductible first). We have not been questioned and their turn around for reimbursement is usually 3 - 4 weeks. They have been wonderful and we have been blessed. I wish you all the best with your insurance as I know it can be very difficult as we had United Healthcare for a few short months and it was a nightmare!!  ________________________________ From: G <luckylot@...> Sent: Wed, March 9, 2011 2:03:52 PM Subject: [ ] Best insurance out there?  Does anyone have any recommendations for insurance companies that are the best for coverage of things that we are all dealing with? DAN! testing and stuff. My husband works for an insurance company that handles our medical insurance and they are AWEFUL. Every single thing we want done for our sons is questioned, even well visits! For example, our DAN! sent us lab work recently for pulling titers, and things like a transferrin, carnitine, etc and for doing an updated CBC, vit D and complete metabolic panel, since some things were out of range last time. He put about EIGHT diagnostic codes on the lab work and they are STILL questioning why he is doing the blood work, they want doctor's notes for everything. What the heck is the point of diagnosis codes then? Then we run into problems with them telling us things are going to be covered, just to have them deny us. When we are denied, we put in for a re-evaluation of the situation and even those are denied. I am at my wits end. We pay for EVERYTHING for two kids, what is the point of insurance? I am really considering paying for it ourselves and going with a different insurance company, IF there are any that are recommended for covering things more consistently. Guest guest
We use BCBS in Colorado. A $20 copay for doc visits, tests from Great Plains and LabCorp are 100% covered, though DDI isnt. RXs are covered by MedCo and the DMPS and Enhansa are covered after I send a claim form. Thats all we've used as far as RX stuff. For Sensory Integration therapy, we paid the first $250, they covered the rest for 6 months. They continued to pay after the therapist sent them a report, showing progress and what therapies needed to be continued. Guest guest
The quality of insurance depends on the State -> carrier -> company -> your status etc. A good plan in one area does not mean that that plan will be available in another area. Guest guest
True. Every state is different and plans can be different. I have heard good things about BCBS in other states though, so it may be worth investigating.
