Guest guest
Have you put Lotrimin on the area where he is itching. My son was doing the same thing and we tried topical Lotrimin twice a day on the effected area for about a week. Within a day or two, my son was not itching the area. Apparently it is not that common in young boys, but yeast infections can happen there Hope that helps. On 4/12/11 3:06 PM, " AmieR " <am_rooks@...> wrote: > > > > > > Hi all! Guest guest
I don't see any antifungals listed. yeast won't go away without ongoing consistent treatment for it. Usually its systemic when it's causing constipation and external genital symptoms. yeast symptoms aren't under control....or he would not be constipated with itchy parts. Symptoms don't always manifest the same. Lotrim or monistat cream can help the external symptoms but to clear this up entirely.....daily antifungals and probiotics. Oh and the tests for candida aren't that great....they often times show no yeast but kids have it and when they are treated you see clear improvements. Miralax is propylene glycol....not nice stuff. Generally constipated kids worse. Lots of magnesium, C and probiotics work a lot better than plastic pellets. Jan > > Hi all! Guest guest
Frustrating conversation with his BA who doesn't think the rubbing is a physical symptom at all....He is on OLE daily to control PANDAS, we rotate GSE, OOO, and Pau D'Arco for yeast control. Also on 10,000 mcg biotin a day. We discontinued Nystatin from rotation after learning it had strep from a post. He has been on up to 4 Therbiotic Detox and 2 Swanson Ultimate probiotics a day. Just added more C (up to 3000 mg/day) at DANs suggestion and Betaine HCL to try and get him to go daily. Maybe we should add Nizoral? Externally, we've tried Lotrimin, cortisone, nubricainal, benadryl cream, lidocaine, compounded 1234 cream, even vagisil. The rubbing continues. There are no external signs (redness or rash) It doesn't seem to matter how many pills we throw in there, the constipation persists. I just had an 18 inch snake appear in my toilet finally! AAAGH! I agree about the Miralax. We are sooooooo close! Thanks, Amie > > > > Hi all! I have finally made an appointment for tomorrow with the pediatrician to discuss my 9 yr olds constipation. Guest guest
Yep. Tried Lotrimin. I wonder if the stool is pressing on a nerve, or maybe internal hemmorhoids, it seems like a deep internal itchy? or painful feeling. I'm thankful he's verbal and can tell me some things now. > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi all! Guest guest
There was a problem with Lotrimin...but now I can't find the reference I had. Lotrimin causes a side effect that was something to watch out for with the immune-suppressed. Digging for it now... > > Yep. Tried Lotrimin. Guest guest
Well I believe the reference on Lotrimin I was looking for is in Shane Ellison's book, and possibly on his website, The People's Chemist. Sorry, can't recall what he wrote, and more likely not a problem at all to use, unless someone else knows something more. Oh well.
Guest guest
I'm just throwing stuff out there - hoping something will stick: What about taurine? What about oils/fats in his diet? I had to give my kid coconut oil by the spoonful. How much water does he drink a day? Track it to see. Why not consult a homeopathy specialist? What do you have to lose? Your probiotics are s. Thermophilus free, I assume. At one point, before we truly had yeast managed, we had trouble like this with the genitals with my son. We gave him a watermelon seed tea for awhile and that helped. Perhaps look into that. > > > > > > Hi all! I have finally made an appointment for tomorrow with the pediatrician to discuss my 9 yr olds constipation. Guest guest
Hmm , We have the same situation here , only he doesn't rub it w/t his hand ,but lays on a hard surface and then rubs it ! He is also 9 ,  and We are doing the same things as You . AC protocol ,tons of supps ...etc . My son is also constipated  and goes every 2-3 days . The problems is not new , some times will go away for couple of months and then return for twice as long . I still haven't figure out what is going on . I have been told so many things to try , but nothing has worked , High histamines , high oxalates , yeast and so on . It is driving me crazy . He is non verbal ,so I have no idea what makes him do it ! about a week ago , I asked my husband why he stopped taking his Multivitamin/Mineral ( its from whole foods ,natural for the most part)  He told me because it makes him itch . I ask him if he is sure and he was very convinced that that is what was causing it . Because when he stopped taking it the itching stopped immediately. I think that all of this supps that we pump into our kids  bodies , sometimes have side effects like this one .....or NOT .. Sorry I have no advice  for You , but to let you know You are not alone in this frustration ! Guest guest
Hi Amie, I am fighting with similar situation for my 5 year old son from 2 years now. After long investigation now I know that the problem is related with oxalates and in more depth with the citrobacter freundii that causes those. This bacteria increases the histamine levels immediately. One good thing is that it needs an acidic PH (so we need to raise the PH to fight it) and a certain temperature (~37Celsius). Excellent was Bicitra but I couldn't use it for long time, sodium is good, too. VSL#3 is very helpful but since it has strep lines I don't use it all the time. The thing that is helping the most and now we use it as a routine is: 1000mg taurine, 500mg Magnesium malate and enzyme before food. Taurine creates taurocholates and doesn't allow the formation of oxalates (thanks to Owens for this information). In case that he still is constipated and has the " itching " use 2 Caps of Sacharomyces Boullardi and LIver Life. Hope this helps, Mimoza On Tue, Apr 12, 2011 at 8:01 PM, AmieR <am_rooks@...> wrote: > > > Yep. Tried Lotrimin. Guest guest
> Dana , > Does increasing Biotin would make the constipation issue worse ? When I first started biotin, it caused horrible constipation. I learned that it required magnesium for proper absorption, and since I was seriously deficient in biotin, it pulled all the magnesium and caused constipation. Once I added sufficient magnesium, the constipation was gone and the biotin helped control the yeast quite a bit. Dana
Guest guest
We had terrible results with Miralax which is also high oxalate (my little guy actually passed a kidneys tone at age three). I know all the standard GIs recommend it, but it's not for long term use. We've had great luck with Oxypowder. You might try that. Also, rubbing of the penis can be due to oxalate dumping...it hurts coming out of the urethra.
