Guest guest
I saw a commercial on the tube tonight. I shows a teacher/mom talking about ADHD and explaining how her son has ADHD. She mentions his inattention and other issues. BUT, of course she has found a solution for her son's ADHD. INTUNIV BUT, Intuniv has side effects..... http://www.intuniv.com/adhd-medication/intuniv-side-effects.aspx INTUNIV Side Effects INTUNIV may cause serious side effects including low blood pressure low heart rate fainting sleepiness Get medical help right away, if your child has any of the symptoms listed above. The most common side effects of INTUNIV include sleepiness tiredness trouble sleeping low blood pressure nausea stomach pain dizziness (OKAY, now the kid won't be inattentive in class, he will be asleep or upchucking in school.) Tell the doctor about side effects that bother your child or that do not go away. The doctor may change your child's dose of INTUNIV. Your child may not always let you know about side effects, so be sure to ask how he or she is feeling. Try keeping a log of side effects to take to your next appointment with your child's doctor. Fainting has been reported in some patients taking INTUNIV. Your child should avoid being dehydrated or overheated while taking INTUNIV. Your child should not drive or operate heavy equipment until understanding how INTUNIV affects him or her. INTUNIV can slow thinking and motor skills. While taking INTUNIV, your child should not drink alcohol or take other medicines that can cause sleepiness or dizziness as these symptoms may get worse. (This stuff is recommended for children 4-16. The driving and heavy equipment shouldn't be a big problem there.) Your child should not take INTUNIV if he or she is allergic to guanfacine or other ingredients in INTUNIV, (And the parent would know about this allergy HOW?) or is taking other medicines containing guanfacine (eg, TENEX®). Tell the doctor about all medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements your child is taking. Please talk to the doctor if you have any questions. Man will ultimately be governed by God or by tyrants. Guest guest
As a parent of a kid on guanfacine (Tenex currently, soon Intuniv) I have to say I am pretty thrilled with it. We've been down the DAN! road and AC chelation for several years and while those things have certainly helped we needed more. We've tried just about everything under the sun for anxiety, impulsivity and focus. Tenex isn't the ultimate solution by any means but it sure helps. I know other parents in pretty much the same situation who swear by it as well. Even our DAN! doc was ok with it fwiw (yes, i know many people here hate DAN! docs). And while I get your point about the side effects, remember that on-label guanfacine is a blood pressure medication so all of that basically stands to reason. As well I think using something like this is way better than SSRIs and the like... ------------------------ As Seen On TV Posted by: " Mr. Wonderful " rick_tallman1@... rick_tallman1 Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:50 pm (PDT) I saw a commercial on the tube tonight. Guest guest
People think I'm making a bad joke when I say modern medicine has become a human sacrificing religious cult and your kid is the sacrifice. Honestly I think people on this list are downright oppositional about medication and should try it for their kids more often than they do, but still much less powerful stuff and much less often than the " medical industry " would prefer! I wonder when they'll start putting in side effects like " this medicine may make your kid fall over dead. " They'll probably admit that before they admit vaccines cause autism. Guest guest
first they mess your kid up with vaccines, then they sell you drugs to deal with the symptoms of vaccine damage and those drugs will cause more problems, and you'll need drugs to deal with those problem....and so on. Certainly sounds sacrificial to me. I'm sure this wasn't tested on any children initially but it is now that we have commercials to send parents running to the ped to ask for it. There are only TWO countries in the world that allow the advertisement of prescription drugs and the U.S is one. Makes you wonder...since the rest of the world thinks this is a bad idea. Reminds me of a Ziggy cartoon I cut out years ago, where he's standing at the pharmacy window and the Pharmacist says " here's your prescription " then on the counter are like 20 other bottles and he says " all these are for the side effects " . Ziggy stands there looking confused. yikes. Jan > > > > > I saw a commercial on the tube tonight. I shows a teacher/mom talking about ADHD and explaining how her son has ADHD.
