If I recall correctly, originally the idea was that most or all of the studies on Lipoic Acid and chelation were done by taking Alpha LA. I think I recall there might be additional concerns about the R-form, maybe something about B1 and maybe that the Alpha LA converts in the body better to DHLA, which is the actual dithiol chelator of mercury, arsenic, etc. You can see the dual SH groups (mercury magnets) here. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/othernuts/la/lastructure.html These are a couple of links. http://onibasu.com/archives/amc/23107.html http://onibasu.com/archives/amc/23029.html There are explanations on the web about the differences between them; however we are using LA for a very specific purpose. We don't want to be rolling the dice, esp with our struggling little ones.
Guest guest
I am pretty positive Andy said not to use R-ala and you will probably find his explanation on the Onibasu archives.
