Guest guest
Not new to chelating. Many rounds of DMSA alone. Began 2nd round with ALA added today. He's had 2 doses. The first one was too large (25mg) by accident, meant to give 12.5. 2nd dose 12.5. Broke out in bumpy rash on hands, up arms and knees. Allergic reaction to ALA? Is it because I gave too much and tried to continue the round? I stopped this round. Can some people not tolerate ALA? I gave him benadryl, topical benadryl and topical cortizone. Anyone else had this reaction? What helped? Should I not try ALA again? Thank you.
Guest guest
Giving both liquid Benadryl and topical Benadryl can cause an allergic reaction.
Guest guest
To clarify, you gave him Benadryl, topical Benadryl and cortizone simultaneously after he developed hives while on ALA, thinking the ALA was causing the hives? In your shoes, I would stop giving him the Benadryl and cortizone, especially if it hasn't helped, and try a dose of Quercetin or Vit C, depending on his weight or age. Someone recommended CoQ10 to me as a natural antihistamine too, but I haven't used it. I know Quercetin helps my son with his allergic reactions. Reference back to Andy's book, I think I remember reading that people can develop a rash from chelating. I can't recall what page or section at the moment. It could be die-off too. Sorry, I can't recall clearly where I read this, and don't have experience relating this to chelation since we haven't started yet. Sheila > > Not new to chelating. Many rounds of DMSA alone. Guest guest
Thanks for the responses. Yes, I thought he may be having an allergic reaction to the ALA, since I mistakenly overdosed. The first round w/ALA was fine at a lower dose. I think he definitely had a reaction to something, just not sure if it was ALA, since it was so far after I gave. Between the Benadryl tablet, spray and cortizone-the rash disappeared and itching quit within the hour. He's never had a reaction like that to anything before. That, coupled with the guilt of my mistake and I freaked. Today, cleaning everything to eliminate any mystery allergans. > > > > Not new to chelating. Many rounds of DMSA alone.
