Guest guest
That is interesting Dawn! I have had a mild allergic reaction years ago to a cephalosporin (Ceclor) and am currently on Spectroceph after a course of Augmentin (both contain cephalosporins). I am experiencing some itching now, but I am trying to hang in there as this infection has been so difficult and intractable that I want to just let the drug run its course and kick the infection. I am coming off a horrible asthma flare with this infection. I seem to be on the upswing and I am hoping to find that the infection is gone when I return to the allergist/immunologist for a nasal swab next week. I wonder if an allergy to cephalosporins is connected to Samters like sulfite reactions seem to be or if it is a common allergy which is coincidental to the Samters. It just is interesting that though we are all different we do share certain other inconveniences. > > I dealt with a horrible case of urticaria for years before I figured > out it was a drug reaction to both penicillins and cephalosporins and > Neosporin. Guest guest
Dawn, Do they hurt like a bruise does? That sounds just terrible... I have found that when I have any kind of an infection, my hives are worse. - New Mexico > > I dealt with a horrible case of urticaria for years before I figured > out it was a drug reaction to both penicillins and cephalosporins and > Neosporin. Guest guest
I am not Dawn but have the hives that hurt too. My whole body is involved right now though the hives are under control for the first time in a year. My pain feels like a cross between a burn and a bruise to best explain it. It is on my skin sometimes and in my muscles all the time. The Rheumatologist diagnosed Fibromyalgia but the ENT said we need a CSS specialist on this one so I am going December 10th. Anyone have this? Trudy. > > > > I dealt with a horrible case of urticaria for years before I > figured > > out it was a drug reaction to both penicillins and cephalosporins > and > > Neosporin. Guest guest
Hi Trudy, My hives hurt too, the best way to describe mine is they're soooo itchy they're painful. When it is at its worst my hands and feet swell up and are very itchy/painful/tingly. I get bruises whith the urticaria mainly because i scratch so hard it bruises. Luckily mine goes in cycles - not sure why yet, but at least I get a bit of "time-out". I don'y know if anyone has had chillblanes, but it is quite like that. hope this is of help. Guest guest
Mine are a combo of a burn/itch, especially the palms of the hands and the feet. I swell, etc...and bruise from scratching so much but they don't start out like a bruise. -NM > > I am not Dawn but have the hives that hurt too. Guest guest
Thanks for the response Tammy and to the rashes. Clay's rash sounds very similar ... larger than a heat rash sounds right. I've recently taken a picture of my son's perioral rash and the one on his eye just in case this rash goes away before his next appt. with his ID doctor. The picture didn't turn out as I had hoped, my lighting in my home isn't the greatest ... but the rash is definitely noticeable. It is such a strange looking rash. Sometimes it almost disappears and yet it never completely goes away. Mason's also looks like a bunch of little red bumps. The rash he has on his eye is less red right now, but a few weeks ago looked so bad. Thank you for the additional symptoms. It is funny how when you go to type it all out, you forget a few of the symptoms ... since there are so many. I know how that is. I'll sit and type it out, getting ready for kindergarten registration ... and I go back to my document a week later and realize I missed several of the symptoms. Thanks so much for the information. I am anxious for his further bloodwork to be done and the results to come back again. I sent all of my son's information via email and fax to Plass early last week. I also asked that she atleast email me back saying she received the information and thus far haven't heard a word back. So I'll be calling her today to pester. I also cc'd my email to Beverly and got a " read receipt " back saying she read it ... didn't even get that from yet. Thank you to everyone alerting me of the " " problem; otherwise, I'd probably not call her for another week yet ... Heidi Mommy of Mason Message: 16 Date: Sun, 29 Jan 2006 04:11:08 -0000 From: " Tammy " <rlw_124@...> Subject: Heidi-Clays rash Clays rash is like little red bumps (not like a heat rash-larger than that) mainly on his tummy and back. Sometimes he will get them on his leg. Every now and then his face but just one or two. They never have a consistancy to them. My husband read my list of symtoms & reminded me of a few things. Nose bleeds, that they said was unrelated but he usually has one 2 days before a fever. Runny nose and a dry cough during a fever. Stomache pain frequently and during the fever. It sounds like you guys are on the right path. Good luck. Tammy, Clays Mom
Guest guest
Well Ric, I hope your doc will NOT take you off tx for the itching,, most of us have had trouble with that at one time or another while on tx. Try taking cooler showers or baths instead of hot as the hot water dries your skin out even more. When you get out of the shower, use a good lotion that helps to moisturize your skin as dry skin itches more. Ask your doc about benedryl too as that can help with the itching, its an over the counter antihistamine that can really help. I found a lotion called "Cacoon" that I got at one of the beauty supply stores that really helped me a lot but I have heard of several others who used Aveeno soaps and lotions and those you can get at any drug store. I sure hope you can find something to help and do not have to stop treatment! How many more weeks do you need to reach the finish line? hope you can make it! Keep us posted,, jaxbobadda1 <rwabel48@...> wrote: i've gotten a heck of a rash from the meds, itching like a hound, anyone have any ideas, my doc might even take me off treatment, i hope not, well let me knowricJackie
Guest guest
I just read that you can " scratch " your itch with an ice cube! I have itchy feet and that is what I am doing today because I have just about torn my skin off. Seems to be working...that and the Aveeno...expensive but worth it. > i've gotten a heck of a rash from the meds, itching like a hound, > anyone have any ideas, my doc might even take me off treatment, i hope > not, well let me know > ric > > > > > > > Jackie >
Guest guest
You know, I was thinking and when I first started treatment I itched something awful for the first couple of months but then it went away and I haven't itched for many months since if that is any consolation. The itching may only be temporary. Ally On 11/26/06, <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: I just read that you can " scratch " your itch with an ice cube! Guest guest
Hi , Aveeno is just mostly oatmeal. If you have a food processor or blender simply take some oatmeal and finely powder it. I add it to simple lotions, to my bath, etc. Inexpensive and works great. Nikki I just read that you can " scratch " your itch with an ice cube!
