Hi,

My son Josh gets the same thing around the fever time

and when he takes a bath. It tends to come and go

quickly. I do not notice it every fever episode but

randomly. Currently he is fevering every 14 days. He

also has knee pain, upset stomach but no mouth sores.

The rash never seems to bother him and does not get

worse. Sorry you are going thru this too! Hope it

helps that someone else sees it too.

My Melody (29 months) frequently got unexplained rashes around the

time of her fever episode. They have not happened as much in the past

six months. Just another experience. Hope it was helpful.

My four year old daughter has also exhibited a mild

rash on her torso that goes away within a few hours or

at most a day. I have never seen the rash while she

has a fever. I have also noticed from other posts that

sensitivity to light, and dark circles under eyes can

also happen with .

My little guy has been fevering for almost 2 years now. Today he

is due to fever. The fever isn't here yet...but he does have a strange

rash. He has never had a rash before. This is something new. I thought

it was just dry skin or something cause he was itching his scalp. Then

today at his Mommy and Me class I noticed red patches on his skin that

seemed to migrate to different places on his body. When one patch would

clear up another one would appear somewhere else. The rash is not

raised or prickly. It is more like a small light-red handprint. Has

anyone seen this on their child. I'm thinking I should push more for

the genetic testing now. His ID Doctor labeled him and called it

a day. Since his initial diagnosis he has developed diarrhea with every

episode and now a migrating rash to his symptoms. Maybe he's just

allergic to his soap or dryer sheets...who knows? But it worries me

cause TRAPS has a rash. Can someone describe to me what the TRAPS rash

looks like?

Thanks,

Hi Amy,

MC gets the same type of rash. We are currently awaiting her results

of her TRAPS test. If you like, I can forward you a fairly large file

Charyn, the moderator of the TRAPS group, sent me. It has pictures of

the rash and gives a lot of really good details. Just let me know.

Thanks,

Can you please send me any information on the rashes. My daughter is

four and a half, she is getting her fever tonight, and sure enough

there is an odd rash on her botttom... Is this common? She is also on

Cimitidine and I did give her a dose of predisone about two weeks ago.

once I think it's finally .. and they know the symptoms. Has

anyone else seen this?

Not sure if this helps - My 28 month old son has had a dry/raised rash for the

last few month on one of his forearms. One Dr has told us that it is eczema and

another Dr has said it is a viral rash. Because the rash has not spread, they

are not overly concerned.

I think 's rash was a case of hives last week. I gave him Benedryl

and it took it away. The rash popped up a few times last week...once he

got Benedryl in him it went away. I'm thinking it was either a reaction

to the Amoxicillian he had been on for a Sinus Infection or a reaction

to the new Pull-ups I bought him. When we stopped using the Pull-ups

the rash went away. Always a guessing game? I took pictures of the rash

to show his doctor. Anyway he was suppose to fever on the 28th of

January and didn't. He has been fevering every 28-30 days. We are on

day 39 right now. I think the Sinus Infection has thrown the cycle off

and has given us almost 2 extra healthy weeks. Weird how real

infections change the fever cycle? I think the Singulair is really

helping too!

Hi Trish:

The only rash I know of that is associated with strep is Scarlet

Fever. I had this rash following strep when I was a child. It was not

serious and was treated with antibiotics - just like you'd treat strep

throat. I do remember being very tired for quite some time after

recovering - but nothing lasting.

Don't know if this helps, but it might be a question to ask the drs.

My older daughter often had scarlet fever

when she was young. It is an allergic reaction to the strep bacteria. It will

look like sunburn and then after a few days the skin will begin to flake off.

It can look really gross. She was 3-4 years old (had recurrent cases until her

tonsils were removed) so I was still helping her in the bathroom, and the rash

seemed worse on her trunk and her privates area. That is what I noticed. She

did feel very sick when she would get it. It did not come and go within the

course of a day or two. The skin would be red for a few days and then it would

begin to flake off. Hope this helps, Michele ( 21, spondy)

Subject: Rashes

I haven't logged on in a while, things have been

crazy. I am

posting because last week started having problems with a

rash. I started first on her face--Only her cheeks down to her chin

(but not on her chin, a little on her nose and upper lip; it was

bright red and slightly rough, not really raised and extremely

sensitive to touch; her skin was cool but she was in agony because

she said it was burning. I spoke to her pediatrician and her

pediatric rheumatologist, neither knew what it could be. The rash

was virtually gone by morning, but I took her to the Dr anyway, they

found nothing. The rash came and went one more time, then a new

rash developed first on her elbows (I took her back to the Drs),

then to her legs and again we went back to the Drs. who decided to

test her for strep which was positive. I am concerned because I am

not convinced the rash had anything to do with the strep and since

this all happened she has been complaining of a " pins and needles "

feeling in her neck, shoulders, and face this scares me.

also suffers from headaches, leg cramps/spasms, trouble sleeping,

and difficulty concentrating--these all seem like symptoms of

fibromyalgia. I would appreciate any insight anyone has.

Thanks,

Trish, (, 11 1/2; Poly JIA)

I have been on clindamycin and quinine for a few days now and have developed

a rash that is spreading over my body. I'm guessing it's an allergic

reaction to one of the drugs unless Lyme can cause rashes. Does anyone know

if Lyme does cause rashes other than the typical bull's eye rash? I was

infected with Lyme in July.

Thank you!

I'd lay off the drugs immediately, and call your doctor first thing in

the morning. He NEEDS to know about this. If the rash starts to

subside in the next 24-48 hours, it's definitely the antibiotics.

If you have respiratory symptoms tonight, don't wait until morning: go

straight to the ER. That's not anything you want to mess around with.

Also, take Benadryl if you've got some on hand. If the rash starts

going down after you take it, it's a good bet you've got an abx allergy.

Hi, Sara and ,

In the handout Dr. C gave me rashes were described in both antibiotic

allergies and a herx. Since his office is closed today until Monday, I have

no way of knowing which it is. I decided to lay off the antibiotics until

Monday and phone his office then.

So far I have no other symptoms but will go to the ER if breathing problems

develop.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

About Lyme rashes, have been infected with Lyme since '94. Learned after a

few years that Lyme can cause a rash when the bacteria gets too close to the

outer skin edge. This is often increased when taking medication as the

bacteria tries to flea the effect of the medication. The Lyme close to the

surface can be killed with hot applications ( heating pad) or by taking hot

showers

with the water directed to the afflicted area.

Thanks, Sidney! I have a FIR sauna and couldn't decide whether or not to

use it right now. Sounds like I should! This is my first sign that the

drugs are helping. The herx I had was extremely mild, almost non-existent.

Good news!

Sidney,

This is interesting; never read this before. Can you still recollect

how you got this information ? Any reference ? Report, article ?

If it is correct it would be of influence for a protocol using

antibiotics.

Hi Ad, no I never read about this rash situation, but have lived it. I am

no doctor, but have been quite active in exploring Lyme and ways to survive

with it. I know a lot that medical doctors do not know, and some medical

doctors know much more about Lyme and main stream medicines that I do. I have

used the Rife machine and love it, but in 2003 had to have a pacemaker

installed

to help with my heartbeat slowdown caused by my Lyme spirochetes. I went to

doctors in 1994 when infected with Lyme, but not diagnosed. Thought I had

heart problems and stopped eating a lot, lost 30 pounds, started taking massive

amounts of vitamins(still do)quit eating meat and any type of sweets, worked

out on a treadmill for one hour each day(when finished my clothes were as

wet as if I jumped in a river. Went into full remission for four years, but

slacked off my regimen and Lyme struck me hard in 1999. Finally diagnosed in

2001, took medicine for 21 days and my non LLMD declared me cured. Went on to

become much worse, and started reading books and found this

network, my eyes were opened. Went on to take herbs of many varities and got

very

much better. Went back to exercising by walking for one or 1 1/2 hour each

day. If weather is bad I go to a shopping center, but make it my business to

walk for one hour each day. I am now 76 years young. I found that

L-Glutamine can kill Lyme bacteria in the cell membrane where main stream

medicine

can't reach it. This is very powerful and can cause great herxing and

neurological problems if one is heavily infected with the Lyme bacteria. I can

take it

without much difficulty as I must have a relatively light load of bacteria

presently. When I first learned of it in 2002 I would start to pass out when

taking it so quit until this year when I again dared to try it again. My

feet and ankles were greatly swollen and after taking the L-G for about a month

and suffering great pain up and down my legs where the bacteria was being

killed my feet went back to normal. The swelling was being caused by the

bacteria blocking my blood vessels. Probably to much for you and I know from

experience that my story may be hard for you to believe and this has been a

waste

of my time and possible yours.

Good luck and God please bless all of those with Lyme!

Best Regards!

Hello Sidney,

Thanks for your reply. Sharing knowledge is never a waste of time but

..... being infected with Lyme for 5 years I have learned that (almost)

each infected person has his/her own experience and way of dealing

with it.

I have become critical because it is impossible to follow all known

protocols and you have to make choices. I agree with your comments

about MD's. That is why here in the Netherlands special units have

been established in academic hospitals. Even MD's in those units

cannot cope with all the information available and are confused by all

the contradiction.

The reason I reacted on your experience is that also I have rashes and

it would mean that e.g. the use of sauna's would complement the

treatment I follow.

Best regards and strenght.
