i give it to my 13 yr old...thing is it has cortisol in it and so you want to

make sure he needs it...have you done a saliva cortisol test first??

valerie at naturalthyroidhormonesadrenals knows a lot about

cortisol supplementing but she always says you have to test first to make sure

you need it..

it has worked wonders on my 13 yr old but we tested her cortisol levels with a

saliva test first....

Hi guys. I am not sure if it is the right group to post my question, but I want

to find out if giving Isocort (2 pellets in am) for 2.5 year old is safe? Also,

I noticed that Isocort has lactose and and lactase in it and my son is allergic

to dairy. Would that be a problem? This supplement was recommended by our DAN,

but I just want to hear any experience that you guys had with this supplement.

Thank you,

Dovile

No, we haven't, but my son has a lot of food allergies (dairy, egg, soy, almond,

peanut, wheat, etc.), so his body is under stress daily. His diet is very

limited and as I understand it could help him with his allergies.

How do you do that test? Do you need a doctor's prescription?

i take it too....it has made my asthma go away!!

yes lots of allergies can be a sign of adrenal fatigue..but when you take

cortisol you want to take it in the same pattern your body makes it...high in

morning and getting lower through the day....with it being lowest at 10pm or so

i think....

there is a good book called safe uses of cortisol by dr. jefferies...it can

teach you some good things!!

you do not have to have a doc rx for a saliva test....you can join canary group

and order one through ZRT labs....the cost for a 4 X diurnal saliva cortisol

test is about $100....most insurances dont cover it anyway even if you had a doc

to order it....

be sure to get the 4X diurnal saliva cortisol..NOT the 1 time per day..not sure

how you will get your 2 yr old to spit to fill the vial....that might be a

challenge !! but it is important..and not like it hurts or anything...he just

does not get to eat or drink for 1 hour before each sample is done...water is ok

to rinse mouth with...and then just spit into a little vial..first sample is

taken 1 hr after waking..then again around 4 hours later..then 4 hours later and

4 hours later...easy really....freeze them then mail them next day...

test is important cause you want to see the pattern of his cortisol and

sometimes it could be high instead of low!

go to adrenals group.they are super helpful...i think there was a lady on

there who has her 4 yr old on isocort...

i swear isocort has made a huge difference for us at my house...we will have to

WEAN off it after a time not to shock our system by stopping it abruptly....but

worth it....hoping to rest our adrenals and nourish them with supplements and

hope they can do it on their own eventually....

Thanks for your reply. It gives me a better idea of what it is. I think I might

just wait until my next appointment with our DAN, because I don't want to start

something that I am not sure about even though he can benefit from it.
