Guest guest
Thanks to everyone that responded. Here is what his pediatrician said...in case it helps someone else...He said that kids bladders are placed a little different than adults, everything is a little more compacted down there and the intestine can actually rub up against and irritate the bladder, especially with that much stool moving through. It can cause pain in that whole region including penis pain. He thinks since it has gone on for so long the intestine is probably stretched out, causing decreased motility. Soooo...he wants him to increase the fiber (with benefiber or such)up to 3-4 times a day, and adding more fiber rich foods to help with the bulk (of course with tons of water). Second, he wants to add mineral oil-up to 2 tablespoons a day-to help lubricate it. Third, he wants to add Sennakote, 3-4 a day to act as a stool softener as well as to help shrink the intestine. He was respectful of my concerns about Miralax, he just said some kids can have issues with it and we'll just stay away from that class of laxatives. If I say he reacted poorly, then he believes me. So, we've started adding these things slowly and we'll see... > > Hi all! I have finally made an appointment for tomorrow with the pediatrician to discuss my 9 yr olds constipation. We've been working with a DAN for years doing AC chelation, GFCFSF and a few other F's, many supplements. This one problem just seems to be getting worse. He will rub a spot just over his penis until it is red. He has rubbed holes in his jeans and dyed his fingers blue. He will tell me it is so itchy it's driving him crazy. He also punches himself lightly in the lower abdomen. We've tried massive amounts of magnesium citrate, aloe vera juice, lots of water, vitamin c, enzymes, etc., epsom salts, everything I've read about here and on other sites. Nothing seems to work. When he goes (about every 2-3 days) it's enormous yellow snakes or orange-sized balls. The rubbing stops and then returns again. I have a feeling that the reg. pediatrician might recommend Miralax again. I thought it made him spacey and silly when we tried that years ago. I also seem to remember a study about it not showing up in the stool of kids with autism? Can anyone site that? Comprehensive stool analysis showed no parasites, yeast. Last year he had anal strep, which was wiped out w/antibiotics. Yeast symptoms seem under control. There is no rash or redness. HELP! It's driving us all crazy! If I hear " All little boys find it, just send him to his room " again I'm going to scream! Any ideas? >
