Guest guest
For those of you who use iodine successfully, did you ever experience side effect of acne? If so, is there some way to remedy this? I tried Iodoral for 1 week, developed very, very painful acne in my ears and nose (strange). May be coincidental, but I have never experienced this before. Just wondering if there is a way to prevent adverse reactions like this.
Guest guest
I have been on Iodoral for years now and have never noticed any side effects. the only things I noticed were that I was able to decrease the amount of Armour I take, my fibrocystic breast " disease " disappeared, and I've had good mammograms since I began taking it after having had three biopsies before I started taking it. I think I heard someone say if you take too much you can get a metallic taste in your mouth. I think there are side effects with any drug and I foudn that what you are experiencing is listed as one of them: " Iodoral supplements work well with people who have problems with thyroid production. However, these supplements might not work well for everyone. There are people who suffer side-effects from these medicines, including the formation of acne-like lesions on some parts of the body, increased sneezing and salivation, severe headache especially in the frontal sinus and a brassy taste on the tongue. Hand tremors, muscle weakness, significant hair loss, abnormal weight loss, heart palpitations, breathlessness, increased irritability, insomnia and many more discomforts and disorders may also be experienced while taking Iodoral. Likewise, women might experience disruption in their menstrual cycle. When any of these signs are felt or experienced, it is best to stop taking Iodoral and consult a doctor. Guest guest
i am new here but yes..those side effects can happen and did happen to some of my family....are you doing the entire iodine protocol not just iodine? that would include magnesium, selenium, vitamin c, and sea salt (good salt , not white salt)  i think the acne is often a result of bromide detoxification...and you are supposed to use more " dirty " sea salt to push it out....  that helps a lot with symptoms of detox....go to the iodine group on for more info on that ... Guest guest
Thanks ladies. Haven, I did see that listed in the Iodoral information sheet, and had heard of others experiencing it. Dawn, I wasn't even aware there was a protocol - will check out the group. > > > From: khieken <khieken@...> > Subject: [ ] Iodine users, side effects > > Date: Wednesday, February 23, 2011, 9:44 PM > > > Â > > > > For those of you who use iodine successfully, did you ever experience side effect of acne? Guest guest
I know of naturalthyroidhormone group in . Also i would like to add that instead of idoral one should take nascent iodine or Dr. Group's detoxinamide iodine. These are the most bioavaiable form of iodine and is elemental iodine instead of a compound iodine which is usually in the form of potasium iodide. Rochelle. > > I wasn't aware of that group either. Guest guest
I did not take Iodoral- but when a started taking just a low dose amount of iodine drops- I got a metallic taste for a bit and a bad headache . I lowered the dose and still got a bad headache and felt odd for a bit -after a week or two- the side effects went away. Perhaps you could lower the dose? And likewise perhaps for you the side effects will wane? Irene > > For those of you who use iodine successfully, did you ever experience side effect of acne? If so, is there some way to remedy this? Guest guest
I had a lot of blood tests done lately, but the lab used the wrong procedure for my iodine test, so I don't know where I stand with that until I get it retested (never tested before for iodine). I tried replacing Synthyroid with Lugol's (2 drops per day last year), but my thyroid readings (all 3 main ones tested) got very low, I was feeling awful, losing hair, etc, so am back on Synthyroid again. I'm still on the 2 drops of Lugol's p/day and putting it on topically, too (had a double mastectomy a year ago). Recently I've added 12.5 mg Iodoral and plan to get that iodine test tried again. What I want to ask is: last year, while I was off the synthyroid, I was able to lose 1 lb. per week dieting(that's good for me), but this year, while back on the Synthyroid, I can't budge a pound staying at 1200 calories a day (good nutrition), and I'm moderately active. I thought helping a hypothyroid was supposed to help lose weight, but my circumstance seems just the opposite! Anybody shed any light on this? > > > > I wasn't aware of that group either. Thanks.
