Guest guest
oops, maybe I should mention that I like the extra firm pillows because I am a side sleeper. The pillows had recommendations on the packages for firmness to match your sleeping style. I definitely do not stay in one position all night. My hips get sore after laying on one side for too long. Sometimes I take the pillow out from under my head and stay on my back, and it is interesting to feel the bed change to accomodate my big butt and still support my back. My husband uses the reclining position more than I do. Reclining is not really a good position for me, but I can manage to watch tv with my daughter for about an hour fairly comfortably. I haven't had a problem with the mattress being too warm, but I do have a huge ceiling fan centered over my bed with a chain long enough to turn it on without getting up (thanks for that innovation, dad!) One thing that we weren't real pleased about our bed is that we got the king size. It is really two extra long twins. We tried connecting them together to make the gap as narrow as possible, but when hubby snuggles up on my side, it tends to widen the gap and start pushing my mattress a bit over the edge of the foundation. We might have been better off with a queen size
Guest guest
SB.. Hmmm....are you sure you bought the King sized Tempurpedic and not an imitation brand or agreed to buy two twins? I have the King size and the mattress is one big piece...no division in it at all. The box/platform is two peices but the top is one continuous piece. Or, did they deliver the wrong thing? The guys in the warehouse might have been confused...with the king utilizing twin boxes on the bottom.... Cam
Guest guest
yes, we called the store to complain when the beds were delivered. my husband was quite insistent that he wanted to sleep with me instead of in separate beds next to each other. it is two beds because of the adjustable nature of the bed. this way we can adjust our beds individually. we have gotten used to it -- I just have to keep reminding my husband that he should be the one to scoot my mattress back to the middle every morning. I got him to help make up the bed one day --he said it hurt his back to reach that far!! > > SB.. > > > Hmmm....are you sure you bought the King sized Tempurpedic and not an > imitation brand or agreed to buy two twins? Guest guest
There was an alternative that their supplier suggested which was making a kind of organic wrap around for a normal mattress and was cheaper but I can't remember how much. If you email them with your problem they may be able to suggest an alternative. Or you could just tell them how much you can afford and let them work out whether or not they can afford to do it for that (i've been reading 's Money Tips, having a very profound effect!) Some people in the US wrap the normal mattress in catering standard polythene (i.e. it doesn't leach chemicals) and then put a cotton wrapper on top of that. But sounds a bit sweaty to me! Guest guest
Hi LL, I found that covering the mattress with thick plastic and taping that very well at the ends will help a great deal. (use a heavy tape as well) I bought my plastic mattress covers at Mattress Discounters. I spray my mattress cover with either Epsom Salt spray or Clorox Cleaner spray everyday. It works fine but then it isn't so comfortable sleeping on plastic but you do eventually get used to it and you will get a better night's sleep with less biting/crawling. (I think these mites can get through the zippers on the other covers) Lady Dee > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > I'll try to keep this short. Guest guest
Lucy Lu, A mattress is a tough one. I would think that the mites would be very diffult to eradicate due to all of the padding. We eventually had to throw ours out and we purchased a queen air mattress to get us through. It's easy to wash/wipe down and your regular mattress sheets will fit an air mattress as well. Sleeping on an air mattress takes some getting used to! But.. Ahhhh... no more bites! > > Hi Ray, > > i was wondering what you did about your bed? > > I have a vinyl cover on mine, but I think they are > still living in it and coming out thru the zipper. >
Guest guest
You can also get a mattress protector case. They are plastic so they are easy to wipe down. Make sure you get the full body ones with the zippers. You can tape the zipper edges too. > > > > Hi Ray, > > > > i was wondering what you did about your bed? > > > > I have a vinyl cover on mine, but I think they are > > still living in it and coming out thru the zipper. > > >
Guest guest
If you are going to open up the cover and put something on it I would do some sort of powder not a liquid. Over time under the matress cover you will most likely get mold or something under there. > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > I'll try to keep this short. Guest guest
I sleep on a King size air mattress I bought at Wal Mart for $17.00. It is the most confortble thing I have ever slept on. Is like a sleep number bed as you can make it soft or harder. Never gets lumps in it or sags and will hold 600 pounds. I have it on a solid wooden futon frame. Is cheap, but what works,, works. Guest guest
I have two of those $17 air mattresses (full size) from Walmart. They really are very comfortable. After about a year and a half the sides expanded so I couldn't get a standard fitted sheet on any more. That's why I bought the second one. I use the old one for camping. - > > I sleep on a King size air mattress I bought at Wal Mart for $17.00. It is the most confortble thing I have ever slept on. Guest guest
HI Lynn, Having an odd sized mattress, you might have a better fit if you go to home depot and buy a roll of 6 mil plastic and wrap the mattress like a christmas present and heavily tape the seams with duct tape. (You can buy heavier guages of plastic by the roll there also.) Some people have said that the covers do not work and that this is the only way to really stop them getting through. You might also want to do both, wrap your mattress with the roll plastic and buy the covers you have researched for extra protection, with DE in between. The roll of plastic is $19.99 plus $8.00 for the duct tape. I used food grade DE on my mattress before I covered it and I do not seem to be bothered in bed. I put the cover on, then puffed the DE all around the mattress through the zipper opening. There was no mess from the DE doing it this way. (I did wear a mask because a small amount did puff back into the room). I then taped the zipper opening with duct tape after zippering it shut. The nylar and a water dissolvable boric acid mix would help, although not chemical free like you've been trying to be. Then DE when it has dried. If you are not trying to stay chem free still, I would probably listen to Rita and give it a spray of the Tempo Ultra SC before you cover it. Then DE when it has dried. Good luck and keep us up to date! Bobby > > Hi all > > Who hoo! I am on a roll today. Finally after a month of hounding the internet and sometimes calling up companies to ask about thickness of zippered encasements and the person not knowing the answers. I finally found a web site and a person whom knew about the differences in thickness on encasements. Said the 6 gauge is thicker than the 4 gauge. So heres the deal. My box springs are made for a Cal-king size bed. The mattress I had to get rid of because I was getting so crippled up after just 2 hours of sleep. Than we just took left over twin mattress from this and that and found one I could get 4 to 6 hours sleep on. So our box springs are only 6 inches tall but extra long and stick out past the mattress. So this person on the phone said to buy the twin ex-long mattress cover and it would fit the box springs loosly and just tuck the excess under the box spring giving the upper part a smooth serface. Now if I remember right some one on this sight was telling me to do that but I had not yet found out what gauge was heavier and was looking for 10 guage plastic. So I am convinced that the 6 guage is going to work and it is in my price range. So next week on line I am ordering some covers. Now only to decide on which poison to use on mattress before rouch puffing it and zippering it shut. Thinking Nylar. Even though some do not think Demeteous Earth will dry them out I am adding that in also just in case. I am going to soak it with a strong poison and dry it really really dry. Do not need mold growing. Than put in my powdered poisons and zipper it. Can you tell I am excited. Having a very good day. No crawling yet some stinking off and on but with lots of blissful peaceful moments. I love esp products and Sea salt too. Here is the link if anyone else is interested. > > http://protectivebedding.com/Waterproof_Bedding/6g.htm > > In Light Lynn >

Guest guest
We bought 3 mattresses from them and love them. They are firmer than a normal mattress but knowing that we aren't breathing in chemicals is worth it.
