I too used Betaine HCL for a brief time due to low stomach acid and digestion

issues. I did not have those exact reactions, but I did experience extreme

stomach pain, burning and pain and burning upon elimination. I stopped it

immediately and the pain and burning went away. It was an awful feeling, I can

only imagine how bad your son must have felt. I suppose it is too acidic for

some. I later read some posts about ox bile, and a supplement called Bile

Factors by Jarrow. I use that now when I am going to have a heavy meat/protein

meal and it works fine with none of the pain I experienced with Betaine HCL.

Also DPPIV digestive enzymes with a heavy protein meal help as well with

digestion. As chelation progresses, the stomach acid/bile issues and digestion

in general are getting better. I thought I would just relate my experience.

be a sign of undigested protein due to low stomach acidity. We started Betaine

HCL with every solid food with meat. Next day he developed lethargy, dry lips

peeling, and fever. I gave him mineral water, and he became better. Was it

acidosis? Did anyone had the same reaction to Betaine? Does it raise acidity of

the body?
