Guest guest
I have a 13-year-old son, Joe, with moderate to severe autism. I've always avoided using pharmaceuticals . However, my sister-in-law recently sent me a video about a doctor in Des Moines , Iowa who is using the drug Namenda to treat autism in children and adolescents. The drug is not FDA approved for treating autism, although it is FDA approved and widely used to treat adults with Alzheimer's. I initially felt very skeptical, but the video was rather compelling to watch as the doctor stated when using Namenda to treat children with autism, is is like " a light turns on in their heads. " My mother-in-law then told me this is the drug my father-in-law is taking to treat his Alzheimer's. I knew he was taking something for Alzheimer's, but hadn't realized it was Namenda .. My mother-in-law feels it has helped immensely and encouraged me to look into obtaining Namenda for Joe. I've done some preliminary research on the Internet, and with everything else, there seems to be pros and cons. I'm curious as to whether anyone in this group has used Namenda to treat autism. If so, I'd love to hear about your experiences. Connie
