Guest guest
Not that this helps at the moment, but I have heard that you don't get bed bugs with tempur-pedic mattresses. We have been switching to those in our home... more because sleeping on them is amazing and two of our kids don't sleep well. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of elena4439332 Sent: Thursday, March 10, 2011 7:29 AM Subject: [ ] HFA child and bedbugs - what to do? I need advice badly! There are a bedbug infestation in our apartment. I tried to steam everything I could, but something still bites. On various websites I read advice to call professional exterminators, but they spray all kind of insecticides, and my son is HFA. Has anyone been in this situation? Are there any insecticides that are safe (I suspect the answer is no...) What do you do to kill the bugs and not to harm the child? _____ No virus found in this message. Guest guest
A hot hair dryer might kill them. Read advice here: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/bed_bugs.html > > What do you do to kill the bugs and not to harm the child?
Guest guest
Professional heat treatment. There are also bedbug sniffing dogs that can determine if there are any remaining bedbugs or viable eggs. Some states have landlord tenant laws regarding landlord responsibility. Dry all fabric items that you can at high heat and pack them in ziploc type plastic bags. Make sure to empty your vacuum cleaner into the dumpster outside. Guest guest
Diatomaceous Earth[food grade] works well for ridding critters See http://www.earthworkshealth.com/ I have just sprinkled it between mattress and box spring, under couch cushions etc. My daughter's family has a nasty cat that brought in fleas - treatment with DE - cat, carpet, furniture did wonders. You can also use the food grade internally for parasite control. > > Professional heat treatment. Guest guest
What about a Hann Steam Cleaner. They come with a tray to even steam your bed, rugs to kill dust mites. Costs $100 for the basic one, which I love btw. I also have the hand held unit which I'm not in love with but that would get you into any area you want. Just a thought. Good luck. Guest guest
I use DE in my organic garden when I have aphid troubles, and used sparingly. Use some caution when using it around anyone who is asthmatic or has sensitive respiratory issues. Wear a mask when dusting it. It does work very well on pets, and can also rid you of parasites internally -- at least there are folks who do consume DE in capsule form purchased via the health food stores. I tried it once and I could feel it chelating my amalgams when I had them in.
