Guest guest
A study was done in Australia (where they have rather a high rate of skin cancer) comparing office workers to life-guards & other outdoor workers with higher sun exposure, & the office workers had MORE skin cancer. Much of what we believe about the sun is wrong. Most of us are seriously short of vitamin D, which is protective against many forms of cancer, including skin cancer.Which is not to say that you can't get too much sun. But, as usual, we have done ourselves in by our lack of understanding. The solar rays that cause skin cancer pass through glass windows, while the rays that produce vitamin D do not. When you are out in full sun, along with damaging rays, we are getting healthful rays that produce vitamin D.Many of the sunscreens available contain toxic chemicals, which actually undermine our health & keep our bodies from making vitamin D. Lose, lose.Part of the equation is the fatty acid profile. Many people who have sunburned all their lives can stop burning if they supplement with enough Omega-3 fatty acids... Healthy skin starts inside us?AnneOn Apr 10, 2010, at 12:34 PM, lookonthebriteside wrote: Sunbathe?! Are you serious? That's horrible for your skin. At a minimum, it causes premature aging. Guest guest
No, not fluoride in the bulbs, but mercury, they are very dangerous if broken, but that’s another story. No, don’t avoid the sun, 20 minutes a day is healing, just don’t burn! Re: Adrenal support That's really interesting about the fluorescent lighting and melonoma...I never considered it, but I guess fluoride is used in the bulbs. That would explain the relationship to skin cancer...I'll try to avoid them as well as the sun because I don't want look older than I am.Sherry> > > > > Gracia,> > > Could you refresh my mind on what I should take for adrenal support? Guest guest
People who look older because of sun exposure are people who lay in the sun for hours a day, not 15 mins a day as is recommended. Our skin needs sunlight to be healthy. The UV rays kill off pathogens that are lurking there. -- At 03:16 PM 4/10/2010, you wrote: >That's really interesting about the fluorescent lighting and melonoma...I >never considered it, but I guess fluoride is used in the bulbs. Guest guest
Well, if that's the case, I'm sure I get enough sun despite my efforts to avoid it...Just walking to and from my car or driving in the intense sun we experience for most of the year in Florida would provide enough exposure then. Guest guest
People don't get cancer from sun exposure. They get cancer from burning their skin or from a poor diet rich in sugar. Your greatest chance of getting melanoma is by wearing sunscreen and spending time in the sun. The sunscreen chemicals react with ultraviolet rays in the basal layer of your skin and create toxins. It also encourages people to spend far too long in the sun unprotected by clothing.Australia has a very high rate of skin cancer, and they're also heavy users of sunscreen. When I say sunbath, I mean spending half an hour in the sun to create vitamin D. I'm not talking about being out all day. Half an hour in the sun won't damage your skin. Eating sugar will.Joannewww.joanneunleashed.comOn Apr 10, 2010, at 4:38 PM, iodine wrote:Sunbathe?! Guest guest
okay, maybe they all don’t blink, but they still are not healthy for us. and contain mercury and what worries me besides them breaking in my house, is that most people will not recycle them correctly by taking them to special centers set up so they can be safely disposed of, thereby filling our earth with mercury for no good reason at all. And they have been directly related to skin cancer. In any event, I am stocking up on incandescents (I found some new brand and each bulb supposed lasts up to 20,000 hours), as our government has outlawed incandescent lighbulbs after 2012. But hey, that’s just me =-) Kathleen Re: Adrenal support>>>>That's weird, fluorescent would seem to correlate with fluoride...So it's >just the tube looking bulbs that are a concern, right?>>> > > >> > > > > Gracia,> > > > > Could you refresh my mind on what I should take for adrenal > support? Guest guest
OH my....I also live in Florida and have for 45 years, and do make a habit of getting out in the sun. The trick is don't overdo it to the point of sunburn and live in it. Sun is good. Research suggests lack of natural vitamin D is what is causing a lot of our problems....breast cancer for one. Do a search on the " benefits of sun " and see what pops up. V > > > > > Gracia, > > > Could you refresh my mind on what I should take for adrenal support?
