Guest guest
Hi Marta, Mine are actually hives. Big ole itchy welts. Benadryl readily takes care of them. It's really strange. I've actually been infected 3 times from my belief. The first was in 1989. I had a rash around the bite the size of a dinner plate, though it was not a bullseye but uniformally red, this is not a rare presentation of the rash. This is the infection that the AF let go for 2 years even with positive test because they just wouldn't believe that Lyme was in Arkansas. (This bite was on my thigh). I had a bite with a bullseye on the back of my right arm in '93 which was treated immediately but I still got sick. I think it set off my old infection. Then again in '95 (I think) just below my right shoulder blade (another bullseye rash and immediate treatment). Here comes the strange part. Until my second infected bite I always broke out starting at the site of the first bite on my thigh. Then I started breaking out with the hives originating from the site of the bite on my arm. Then after the third infected bite, and since then, (I've had no other bite since the third) they've always originated from the bite below the shoulder blade. I know that hives can be a form of the rash. It's just wierd the way the origin changed to correspond with the site of the most recent bite. Can anyone explain this one?!! The strangeness of it just blows me away. It's like each new infection was stronger than the previous one and that's the one that took over. Maybe they all mixed together to create a new strain. Beats the hell out of me!! Oh, BTW, I'm glad I could give you a good chuckle the other day. You may not believe this but I really wasn't in " RARE " form that day. What you really saw was the real me! I am a complete nut! I just had a really baaaaaaddddd winter!!!!! It really did try to steal my sense of humor from me but I always win out. I enjoy laughing too much to let it leave me for good! I enjoy making others laugh too! ) I am doing better, in great part because of you guys and I'm laughing all the time lately. It's like milk, " it does the body good " ! On that note let me leave you with one of my favorites. Why does beer go through you so fast? Because it doesn't have to stop and change colors!! ) Love ya!! Carolyn
Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, My funny new friend...LOL, glad you are getting your old personality back, not that I didn't like the old one too. Laughter is the best medicine as they say. Those big itchy hives you mention, I had them once, on my abdomen, showed them to my LD doctor and he dx'd it as yeast, he put me on diflucan and I have not had a problem since, of course I also take large doses of acidophilus: " Primadophilus Bifidus " The rash you describe from 1989 is common in tick bites, although not bullseye, the size leads me to believe it is believe this. The three different bites with each rash going back to the prior site is strange, but then so is this disease. You must be a tick magnet to get so many bites. I still think I just had the one. Carolyn, hold on to that sense of humor, it will keep you sane through these hard times, loved your beer joke.
