Guest guest
Two years ago I was diagnosed with Bb infection after several years of non-treatment due to negative reactions from titer and Western Blot tests. I finally found a llmd in the NY (Long Island) and after symptomatic diagnosis and a " high positive " LUAT test, began 2 months and then 3 months of treatment with oral doxy. My " recovery " was encouraging, with most symptoms disappearing. Although my doctor is satisfied with my progress to the point of discharging me, I am not. He claims that 85% recovery is all that some patients achieve. Today, I still experience muscle twitching and a sub 98 degree body temperature. I am unable to warm my hands and feet and experience an " itchiness " over much of my body. These symptoms are most noticeable during times of stress. Most importantly, although much improved, the inability to recall common names and, on occasion, even my own address and phone number, remains. I have learned to live with my remaining symptoms but I am frightened by possible long-term neurological complications. Should I push for further treatment? Am I being discouraged from resuming treatment due to the fear of the llmd of " over prescribing " ?
