Guest guest
Hi Alice, WOW, I never realized that my Restless Legs attacks occur ONLY at nite. I get them when I'm totally exhausted, on the verge of sleep, then, maddeningly, the attacks hit, totally preventing sleep. But, until now, I never realized that I don't get these attacks in the daytime, even if I doze then. I can't imagine what significance the timing of the attacks has. When I was on IV antibiotics, I did not get RLS attacks, but now that I'm ABX-free, I get the attacks every nite & cannot get by even one nite without Klonopin. Anyone out there have any ideas why this doesn't happen during the day? Thanks, a
Guest guest
Sounds like you have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder..........and not Restless Leg Syndrome they are a little different. I have the PLMD too.......which it is a central nervous system disorder.........most likely caused by the Lyme........... It can cause you to wake fatigued, and non refreshed........make sure you solve that problem.....if the Klonopin is working than stick with it...........A good nights sleep is so important. Check out this site for more information. http://www.mlists.net/judson/Elaty.html Connie nwnj Leave no stone unturned.......and ask questions! Guest guest
Hi Connie, I havnt really discused this with my doctor yet (I did include it in my symptom list though). When ever I lay down for a period of time I have involentary muscle jerking. It could be my leg, foot, hand, my whole arm, ect. I guess I could have PLMD. Next time I talk to my LLMD, I'm gonna mention this. Guest guest
I am fearful that my daughter may have Lyme though her doctor doesnt think so. I lay down with her at night and she just about hops all over the bed sometimes.I have spoken with friends about this and they say that their kids sometimes jerked in their sleep. Any opinions on this? Also my daughter had 3 grand mal seizures when she was about 4 years old (she is 9 now) and she says that sometimes at school she is too tired to climb the stairs or run in gym. My problem is that her doctor doesn't think any of this is significant or related in any way and says that even if we do a blood test it may be a false positive. I personally go to Dr. Burrascano but he doesn't see young children. I will see him again in a few weeks and ask him what to do also. Jst to mention, I did have Lyme when I was pregnant with her (though I thought it had been treated.) a _________________________________________________________________ " Do me a favor, doc, tell me something good. Guest guest
Kim, I too have the involuntary jerking, mainly at night, I know I have it before I go to sleep, my husband tells me it continues through the night. Once I had my entire abdomen and chest jerk, that one scared me. Funny though if I nap during the day, I don't notice the jumping, even though I am in bed. I don't think this is the same as periodic leg movement. Guest guest
Hi Marta, It does happen to me during the day. If I take a nap or if I'm just laying still for a while. Having your whole abdomen & chest jerk sounds scary. I havnt had that one yet. Hope I dont. One day I was laying on the couch watching TV and my arm & hand jerked & my whole arm went up in the air. Guest guest
Kim, It could be that I rarely relax thoroughly during the day, and naps are quick and not restful for me. That body jerk happened once, and I hope never again, it really did scare me. I do have major CNS damage, and I am assuming that is why I twitch and jerk. Guest guest
Hi Marta, Sounds like you have both.......rls and plmd....before lyme? or caused by lyme? You may not realize it, your body is probably waking up by these movements.........you may not be conscious during your awakening..........but I bet you don't wake refreshed.......... Guest guest
Marta, Have you tried Neurotin for the jerks, it also helps me relax. Guest guest
a, First I would report your doctor to the medical examiners office, make sure you know exactly what happened and dates. Second find another doctor. I had to travel from TN to MO to see a doctor, hopefully you won't have to go that far. But this is all my opinion I can't tell you what to do. I would have her tested. I have three children and would not want the to have this disease. I am sorry about your child and hope that she gets the help she needs. I will pray for her.
