Guest guest
During the last visit that we had with our DAN doctor, we agreed that since our daughter is still showing signs of yeast that we'd start her on Diflucan. Our DAN wanted us to have some lab work done before starting Diflucan. Last week, the office called saying to hold off on the Diflucan until we had a consult. We have a consult on Friday, and I've been looking over the lab results. I'm wondering if any of the biomed veteran's of the group might have some insights about what they could mean and what questions to ask? I've been doing some research on my own and see some red flags based on my own health issues, but I want to see what somebody with fresh view point might conclude. Here are the results of concern: CBC with Differential/Platelet MCV 95 High Norm 80-92 Note: Iron levels are normal. Neutrophils 22 Low Norm 40-70 Lymphs 59 High Norm 20-47 Monocytes 11 High Norm 3-10 Eos 7 High Norm 0-4 Neutrophils (Absolute) 1.0 Low Norm 1.5-5.6 Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (14) AST (SGOT) 42 High Norm 0-40 Also noteworthy, though her vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy is normal, it is at the low end of normal; result 33.8 Norm 32-100, and we have been giving her a vitamin D supplement for many months now. Thanks in advance for your insights!--- http://www.WhoAmIWhyAmIHere.com Navigating Through Life, Parenthood, Autism, Passion, Philosophy & Creative Expression
Guest guest
Did the doctor think the yeast was going to magically disappear between visits without doing anything about it? Diflucan is hard on the liver...Why not use natural antifungals? Oh yeah, I forgot, DAN's don't make money off those. I am a biomed vet if you want to call it that. I don't buy much into what DAN's do for most kids because they tend to keep you coming back and don't really fix anything. All you get is a kitchen full of expensive supplements you can't use and an empty bank account. If you'd like to avoid this scenario....you can learn safe frequent low dose chelation and the accompanying biomedical therapies like antifungals yourself on this list or on Recovery From Autism Group. Neutrophils would be a concern if they are below normal. Eos high: there is some underlying infection going on. Probably parasites. I'd do an herbal cleanse. And get some Neutrophil Plus to boost her neutrophil count. Also elevated monocytes and lymphcytes...again infection. Possible viral or parasites. her vitamin D isn't normal, it's pitifully low. It should be above 65. How much D is she on? It isn't enough. In kids this low I put them 5,000 IU per day until their blood labs come back above 65. You need D for immune function. That could be a factor in her low neutro count.
