Guest guest
Hi Everyone, As a long time Lyme sufferer, like many of you, I have spent hundreds of hours studying up on Lyme, treatments, supplements, etc. On this list, I have noticed that there is quite a few references to Olive Leaf Extract. I agree that it is a highly beneficial antibiotic. However, anyone who is thinking about taking this supplement, should be aware of the cautions: 1. It will inactivate many types of prescription antibiotics and should not be taken with them. This is a biggie for anyone who is being treated for Lyme with antibiotics, which is most of us. 2. A " die off " or Herxheimer's reaction may occur from killing too many pathogens too quickly. This could be ANY type of pathogen, not just Lyme. So, having a Herx while taking Olive Leaf Extract is NOT exclusively a sign of Lyme disease. It can be anything from a bladder infection to rheumatoid arthritis. Basically, any infection that involves, a bacteria, a virus, or a fungus. And since most people are generally dealing with one of those, you can expect at least a minor herx. 3. It will attack Bacillus subtilis which is flora found in your gastrointestinal area. Not too big of a deal, but something worth mentioning. 4. It has a relaxing effect on blood vessels and capillaries and therefore, may increase bleeding tendency. So, if any of you have clotting problems or on a blood thinner, stay away from this! So, that's it. Just thought that these things were important to know. Cheers,
