Guest guest
I recently asked Dr. Burrascano for his Curriculum Vitae (CV), and I recently received it. It took me a little while to re-format it a little bit because he sent it as a Word document. It should now look pretty good in your email browser. However, if you would like a fancier looking copy in a Word document format, just let me know and I can forward it as an attachment. I want to preface this with an explanation. All researchers keep a " curriculum vitae, " it is a resume of sorts. Not all doctors have a curriculum vitae (though they probably should,) and those that do most often don't keep it updated. That is because, as most of us know from experience, most doctors do not do research. Most doctors do not have a schedule full of speaking engagements or shelves full of books that they have written. A doctor does not have to do these things to be a good doctor! Most doctors are clinicians, they " simply " see patients on a daily basis and try to make people well with the knowledge that has already been learned. No doctor should be judged by his or her curriculum vitae alone. However, ALL medical practice is based upon research. Doctors are required to continue to learn about medicine after they earn their medical degree. Every year, depending on the state that grants them a medical license, doctors participate in so many events (each earning a number of credits) called Continuing Medical Education (CME). These events can be as simple as reading a medical journal and answering questions that relate to one or more articles (these are usually limited to only a few credits each year), or it may include going to a days-long seminar and listening to other doctors or researchers explain something new. This is the foundation of medicine in our society, doctors enriching their knowledge base from others more experienced. Even if your doctor doesn't participate in research activites, his or her life is dramatically affected by them. Dr. Burrascano not only practices medicine, he teaches medicine. He has influenced, to a lesser or greater degree, every Lyme Literate Physician in this country, probably also the world. He has done this by doing research and publishing it in medical journals that are then read by doctors all over the world. Dr. Burrascano has also taught others by speaking with them. He participates in speaking engagements as often as his schedule will allow. And as many of you know, Dr. Burrascano consults with doctors all across the nation to help them give their patients the best degree of care possible. Dr. Burrascano is aware that I am going to circulate his Curriculum Vitae through out the Lyme disease community. He was excited that I asked for it. He has been so busy lately that he didn't think about distributing it himself. This can be used as a great tool in Dr. Burrascano's defense, as well as an inspirational tool for all of us. I truly believe this man has contributed to a healthier life for each of us! This CV shows how he has done that in many ways. Dr. Burrascano is still in the " middle " of his hearing in front of the OPMC. It is not going well for him. He knew going in that he only had a 2% chance of " winning " this thing completely. I believe he is being persecuted, not just prosecuted. The reason for this persecution can be found in the following CV. Dr. Burrascano has spoken publicly about this disease since at least 1989. He has worked hard to show the truths concerning this disease by doing his own research. Research that was peer-reviewed and published in major medical journals and physician reference books, showing that his ideas were not and are not " quackery " by any measure. This man, this doctor, has fought for each of us for so many years! He has already touched your life and affected your medical care! With all that is going on with him right now, he still took the time to offer any medical help he can give me, just because he knows I know longer have an LLMD. This man truly cares about each of us! If you can find it in your hearts, and in your wallets, to contribute to his Legal Defense Fund, I KNOW he will be touched by your efforts. If all you can provide is good thoughts and prayers, I KNOW he will appreciate that too! Burrascano Legal Defense Fund C/O PO Box 410 Kinderhook, NY 12106 The following is just a sampling of what Dr. Burrascano has done for you and I. Guest guest
Robynn, Thank you so much!!! This is awesome and a perfect preface to Dr. Burrascano's Guidelines for treatment which I am going to give to my GP. I would appreciate it if you could send me the Word version. I am sure it looks better than my attempts to fancy it up in Word. I wish we had this for Dr. Horowitz et al. I am putting together a package for my GP in the attempt to turn him into a somewhat LLMD, at least to the point of minimizing the number of chronic cases coming out of his office. He is open to learning but he's got a long way to go. Thanks for your efforts and time put into acquiring this. I think it goes far into adding credibility in the eyes of docs who don't have a clue as to who Dr. B is. Thanks again, a
Guest guest
a, It's on it's way. It's a long download, so be patient. I too wish Dr. Horowitz would give us his CV. I have been told that he has been asked for it, but I do not know why he hasn't distributed it. I have a better relationship with Dr. Burrascano so I just asked him directly. =) If any of you are Dr. Horowitz's patients, feel free to ask him for his CV. Be sure to tell him how inspiring it was to get Dr. Burrascano's. I am glad you are working on your doctor!!!!!!! This will HAVE to be done if we want to keep LLMDs around. Good for you!
