Guest guest
Dear Lyme Friends, Today my psychiatrist signed Dr. B’s petition!! I was hoping she would and kept my fingers crossed. She is not aware of the particular circumstances surrounding his case, but she knows the political climate surrounding Lyme treatment, the harassment directed toward Lyme-treating physicians, and the battles we have had in getting appropriate treatment approved by ’ insurance. (My company's insurance problems were never a treatment issue, just a coverage issue.) She doesn’t know our LLMD personally, but knows of his dedication and his reputation through other local doctors, and the way and I feel about him. She has read all the psychiatric literature that we have provided her concerning Lyme and how it affects patients neurologically, and has become quite Lyme literate. She readily accepts the research articles on the disease and is aware of what this group has to do politically to protect our access to the appropriate treatments. She’s quite impressed that such a large, widespread patient group would organize this way and go to such lengths, especially when so many are so very ill. I printed the entire petition and highlighted the names of the people in our group that I know of on the list, and pointed out the physicians that have written the psychiatric articles, and reminded her of the other prominent East Coast doctor that did our second opinions (for insurance purposes) as well. (She read that report also when filling out her part for my Social Security Disability.) I also made sure to tell her that the patient population signed petitions first supporting Dr. B, then the medical community petition idea evolved. She was very willing to sign. Also, several (4, actually) of our Bedford doctors are on the list, as our LLMD has been very active in getting signatures locally. There is also a signature from a doctor in another country that he is responsible for getting. (Our pain doctor is on the list, too, but he did not list his city of practice – but did list his clinic name and email address. He's included in the 4 mentioned above. My psychiatrist does not have email, so I printed the petition, she signed it, and I will scan it and send it on its way. (Had to do this for our LLMD when his computer was down.) Next on my list is my chiropractor. Wish me continued good luck! I know he will sign. Love ya, Rose in Texas ( J. ‘Rose’ Rose)!!!!
