figured out is that some people join groups than they proceed to start their own group and invite people from the groups they already belong too. I have noticed a lot of these groups are copy cats of . So basically to me it is people trying to steal members from a already established community. Now not every invite is like this, for example started a group about self sustained community living and he sent a invite to the group at large, which was great because I joined it LOL. You also have to be careful because some of these same people will than gather your emails from the forums and continue to send you private invites and keep sending them until you join.
