Guest guest
I am new to all of this and have had Lyme for about a year and a half. Had bulls eye when bitten January 1999. ALl tests negative until I kept feeling badly and found a LLMD, am now on zithromax. My question is stemming from all the reading I am doing on the list where it appears people only feel good while on anti-biotics even if one hashad Lyme for years and years? Does anyone ever get cured, discontinue meds, function normally and go about their lives functioning at a level equal to before being infected or is this some curse for life? My LLMD tells me I can't be considered " cured " until I tolerate anti-biotics for 3 months with no herx!!?? I gues I feel depression sinking in with the thoughts that this one incident has caused a life- long illness it appears? How can just a bacterial infection do this? From everything I am reading it seems that anti-biotics offer only an on again/ off again poor maintanence regime and perhaps there is no cure? But then, if it's only an infection - it seems anti-biotics should cure it. Just makes me wonder what exactly is going on here - is there more to Lyme than medicine currently knows? Would love to hear some positive reports of anyone who has been " cured " and functions normally, if such a thing exists? Thanks!
