Controlling ticks on a towmwide or statewide basis...

I live in a town where it is believed that *all* the ticks are infected. We

have a great

abundance of deer since the state stopped active management of their #s. We

also have tons

of mice. I am aware of what I can do on a personal level to get rid of the

ticks but this

doesn't help when my kids play at the park or on town fields.

I want to raise the issue with the town, which up until now has done nothing but

educatoin

(and poorly at that). But I have no idea what other town's or state's are

doing. Does anyone

know of any effective strategies for controlling ticks on a larger scale? Can

anyone point me

to some information?
