-the notion about Bismuth came from a 1912 Syphilis treatment that included the

use of Bismuth PLUS malariotherapy ( injecting malaria to induce high temps) or

another drug plus malaria--there was some but not completely successful results.

as we both know ,tho similar to Syph, the Lyme spirochete has proven more crafty

and cannot be as easily eradicated.nor treated by the same things either

- there are ?posionings from the BISMUTH?( and not as some think from

salycilates) ?http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/541340?rss

last line first para " due to potentially fatal bismuth poisoning "

http://www.pritzkerlaw.com/bismacine-chromacine/

and this? quote: [bismuth toxicity is associated primarily with exposure to

bismuth

??? salts, notably the ingestion of bismuth chelate] --from:

http://www.intox.org/databank/documents/chemical/bismuth/ukpid49.htm

to be truthful?poisonings are?not -as far as Ive seen- from Pepto but from

injecting Bismuthacine and similar compounds. I do not know how much Bismuth

breaks down or even gets into the blood after ingesting Pepto--Im guessing

little to none or else we would see far more problems with Ulcer treatments!!

also I found the ONE and only study done on?Lyme and Bismuth?and when I found

the original here I saw where the crazy Pepto notion came from!!!

http://www.im.microbios.org/16december01/04%20Brorson.pdf

it states its?testing?and suggesting to?eradicate ONLY the Lyme from the GI

tract meaning it wont get into the blood or systemic etc.

plus they use " ranitidine bismuth citrate " ..aka TRITEC?

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/ranitbc.htm

and frankly they used CULTURED cells not people and then made these Borrelia in

culture go into cyst forms which may not even mimic what happens inside

people!!! then they exposed the cysts etc to the Tritec..this was a non repeated

and very limited IN VITRO study with absolutely NO hint that it can do anything

if given to people!! then we have to look at what they used :

the ranitidine is ZANTAC btw!! and Bismuth citrate ( used in Europe more than

the US ) aint nothing like the bismuth salicylate of Pepto

NOTHING at all like " Pepto Bismol " which is " Bismuth subsalysilate "

when youve been in Lymeland as long as I you come to recognize that desperate

people will grab a kernel from one study and apply it globally then claim itll

cure or abate symptoms without any basis whatsoever---which is the case

here--even IF the study proves valid and can be repeated and even IF it will be

proven to work inside the body-and ONLY the gut mind you--we still have the

issue of the Tritec vs the Pepto---too many IFs and too many leaps and changes

to expect anything but Bismuth poisonings OR salicylate overdoses from Pepto!!!

your MD unfortunately may think " Pepto cant harm lets try it " and may even be

listening to his very UNinformed patients--a dangerous thing IMHO!!

In any case, Id not jump on the Pepto bandwagon unless youre trying to eradicate

Ulcer causing H. pylori!!

and btw anyone telling you theyre " herxing " from pepto -theyre either having a

lovely placebo reaction OR perhaps its reacting?from taking the Pepto to begin

with. Hoepfully its not their body telling them theyre being poisoned by either

the Bismuth or the salycilates!! OR even maybe theyre simply " flaring " due to

not being treated properly...in any case its NOT the Pepto killing anything let

alone cystic Lyme?...

be well and be safe and ALWAYS check your sources!!!
