Guest guest
I found a tick on me yesterday. I happened to be in the hospital visiting a friend, so I asked a nurse if she could remove the tick. She said I had to go to the Emergency Dept. Well, I waited 2 1/2 hours, but I was grateful to have it removed. It was very engorged. And even more grateful when the doctor said, this is not a deer tick. She got it out intact, it also had a piece of my skin attached to it! I've just been looking at pictures, and I agree with her. I've got the tick, so I think I can send it off to my county extension division and have it analyzed. I'm wondering about other diseases I should be aware of. Seems to me I have read that dog ticks can also carry yucky things. I've got some of Buhner's herbs left over, so I'm thinking of taking them as a prophalactic. The doctor of course gave me a prescription for doxy, but I'm not inclined to antibiotics. The spot itches a little today. When she removed the tick, it bled a LOT, and everyone wanted to look at the tick, apparently it is a very big one. And there is a red area around the bite. Appreciate any of your ideas. thanks, ellen
