Guest guest
I am using Paradise Herbs Resveratrol and am happy with it. It costs $13.45 for 60 capsules (at vitacost.com). I take two in the morning and two at noon. > > My LLMD told me to take 4 capsules 3 times a day. Guest guest
I encapsulate my own. & nbsp; I get Plumb Flower Brand from 1st Chinese Herbs for a very small fraction of what you are paying. & nbsp; And because you encapsulate your own there are NO fillers added in. & nbsp; Only PURE herb. & nbsp; Jim ### From: marinspin & lt;marinspin@... & gt; Subject: [ ] Resveratrol Question Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2008, 6:31 PM My LLMD told me to take 4 capsules 3 times a day. Guest guest
Thanks again for your reply. Either I am not thinking very straight from the heat here today or have I Lyme brain or both but I went to look at the ingredients at vitacost and is your brand the same thing as what Buhner recommends to take - does it include the whole plant in some form and is 4 caps a day the same amount Buhner recommends working up to? I for some reason could not figure out how it compares to the Source Naturals tabs and sadly I use to work in the supplement industry and should know this. I actually called a product development person I know at Source Naturals today to see if they might consider making the product without the magnesium stearate. I am still waiting for a reply from him. > > > > My LLMD told me to take 4 capsules 3 times a day. Guest guest
It is another brand that Buhner recommends at Planet Thrive I beleive. I only take four because that is all my stomach can handle. I can only handle one of the Source Naturals as they really make me sick. I don't think it comes close to what Buhner recommends, but I'm a small person and it is the best I can do. I'm doing quite well on his protocol even though I can't get to the max. > > > Thanks again for your reply. Guest guest
Different people require different doses of medicine, especially herbs. & nbsp; However, unless you are one of the few who can only take a very minimum amount, I would say from experience and Buhner's writings, that the 4 ;pills a day is NOT enough for most people. & nbsp; That is okay for starting out, but not anywhere near the maximum that Buhner recommends. & nbsp; I have and do used different brands of herbs. & nbsp; THis includes buying from VitaCost, My VitaNet, Herbs-Wholesale, 1st Chinese Herbs, StarWest Botanicals, AND a few others. & nbsp; All of those I have mentioned have decent prices. AND they have good quality herbs. & nbsp; There are many other companies out there too that have good products. & nbsp; What I don't like is their processing of these God-given herbs. & nbsp; Some add fillers to make it easier to encapsulate them. & nbsp; Or to just help fill the capsules. & nbsp; THAT is WHY I like to encapsulate my own, PLUS the huge savings in the herbs by doing it yourself. & nbsp; Hey, I had Lyme Brain Fog so bad two years ago that I couldn't find my way out of a gas station. & nbsp; But I STILL was able to encapsulate my own herbs. & nbsp; I just had to take my time, do one herb at a time and make sure I labeled the bottles well, so I didn't make any mistakes. & nbsp; AND I didn't make any. & nbsp; Now I hardly even think about it, it is so natural to do it these days. & nbsp; I do it while watching TV. & nbsp; Some days I do two bottles, some days one bottle and other days I don't do any at all. & nbsp; Hope this helps you get yourself going on a road you need and will feel comfortable with. & nbsp; Jim. ### From: marinspin & lt;marinspin@... & gt; Subject: [ ] Re: Resveratrol Question Date: Thursday, June 12, 2008, 5:04 PM Thanks again for your reply. Guest guest
I also take Paradise Herbs brand with great results, taking 3 twice a day (total of 6 per day). There was bad die-off the first week. So do start low and slow. We also take 3 pills Cat's Claw twice a day. Together they seem to do a great job. The improvements are very noticeable. When we run out, symptoms return. Thus, this dose is working. I have seen Buhner talk in Planet Thrive about being more concerned with the amount of pills than the mg. of each pill. He said that different companies make the products differently, so they kind of match in strength when comparing pill to pill, even though the mg. amount may be different. We did get an increase in Bartonella symptoms the first few weeks, which were quite annoying, the first week was difficult. We had to use Lithium Orotate to get through it. Guest guest
I use Paradise Herbs Resveratrol 20:1 Concentrated Potency, True Full Spectrum, which says it contains polygorum root extract equivalent to 2,000 mg whole root and 15% resveratrol per tiny capsule. No fillers or binders, but does have fresh ginger added. Capsule is 100% vegetarian, but they do not say what. I get it at iHerb.com, and only take one per dosage(instead of 4 as you would with Source Naturals brand), since it has a higher potency. Buhner is a believer in using the whole herb and not parts of it. He mentions that often in his book, I think. Hope this helps a little - at least to let you know about another brand, Paradise Herbs, which Buhner did endorse at some point & it was reported here, on this list. Edith > Hi, all, > Seems that my post is getting unrelated answers under the last heading, so I'm asking again. I appreciate your help and patience. Thx. > _____________________ > Can anyone help explain the dosing of resveratrol vs. transresveratrol? > > > > I cannot tolerate the binders/fillers in the Source Naturals product, so I'm trying the Resveratrol by Pure Encapsulations (which only contains cellulose, albeit derived from pine). > > > > The Pure Encaps version says it's standardized to contain 20% transresveratrol " which is 40 mg in one capsule as opposed to 20mg of resveratrol in 2 Source Naturals tablets. The Pure Encaps chemist assured me Buhner means the " trans " form because that's the active form, but I'm not confident about that (they haven't read his book).
Please note that although it is 'equivalent to 2000 mg whole root', this product contains 15 mg of standardized resveratrol per capsule, while the Source Naturals product has 10mg. So the Resveratrol content of the concentrated Paradise Herbs product is only 50% higher, and not four times higher as some might think. The price is much higher though. Of course, Resveratrol is important but just one of the many components in the knotweed, maybe the source naturals product has Resveratrol added from another source? I think Buhner has commented on this issue somewhere but don't remember the specifics. The Paradise Herbs products sounds attractive if one could really take 4x1 instead of 4x4 pills, but I doubt if this will achieve the required dosage. Is there anyone who did more research on this issue? I'm currently using knotweed bulk powder 00 capsules, that contain about 0.8 gram of knotweed powder each. The major problem with the bulk product is that it is not standardized, and content will probably vary strongly depending on harvesting time etc.
